Top Ixtapa Tours & Sightseeing

This was our 3rd tour booked with Luis this week and, once again, we were happy with our decision. The estuary where we kayaked is full of birds, fish and a sense of calm. Luis was very knowledgeable about the vegetation, the birds, the fish and the area. At the end we took some time to watch the surfers surf the Playa Linda break. Highly recommend this tour and our guide, Luis.

Luis is absolutely fantastic! We’ve visited Zihuatanejo three times, and each trip has included different excursions with him—and every single experience has been fantastic. . His knowledge of the area, history, and local culture is incredible, and we always come away having learned something new and meaningful. We can’t recommend him highly enough—if you’re planning any excursions in Ixtapa or Zihuatanejo, Luis is the person to go with!

We met down at the Muelle and walked up and down taking pictures in all different settings and poses. It was friendly and comfortable the whole time. And we got amazing, unforgettable pictures. We’re booking again next time we’re in Zihua!

Our tour guide Carlos was fantastic and his english was extremely good. We had a great tour of a Coconut farm and Museum and roof tile making as well as a 5-star lunch at the Beach. Our conversations en route talked to the history of Zihuatanejo and Ixtapa as well as the local agriculture. We asked Carlos many questions about life in Mexico and he was knowledgeable and well spoken. A thoroughly enjoyable tour which we highly recommend as you really get to see parts of the area that are off the beaten gtrack.

My family and I (8 adults and 2 children) got our photos done this spring on a beach in Ixtapa during the sunset. The photographer met us there, had great communication and guidance and took great photos. They sent us our edited photos within 10 days (cleaned up the background very nicely because it was busy that night), they were a fair price and they’ll be a great keepsake for our family. Highly recommended!! My family loves them.

This was a very interesting morning, and Carlos is an excellent guide. We saw a coconut plantation, a tile-making operation, and a restaurant where women were making tortillas by hand and cooking them on an open fire. In addition, Carlos is knowledgable about the local fruit trees, native woods, and birds. His English is excellent, and we conversed on a variety of topics. It was a wonderful chance to see traditional enterprises and something of life outside the city of Zihuatanejo. Highly recommended

We had a really lovely time on this kayaking trip. It was calm, relaxing, and easy to enjoy—definitely something that works well for all ages and experience levels. It felt more like a peaceful float than a workout, which was exactly what we were hoping for.We saw quite a few birds along the way, which made it feel like a quiet little nature escape. It was a nice opportunity to slow down and just take in the surroundings. One thing to note is that the pond can have a bit of a fishy smell at times, but it didn’t take away from the overall experience for us.Overall, it was an easy, low-key outing that we all enjoyed and would recommend for anyone looking for a relaxing way to spend time outdoors.

Great private tour of the outlying areas away from Zihuatanejo! Carlos was very knowledgeable, spoke good English. We visited a brick and tile making company and we could make a tile ourselves. The coconut plantation was beautiful and the coconut treats we tried were delicious! We had a flavorful lunch at a seaside restaurant in Barre de Possi. Really enjoyed our day and getting to know someone from the area. Highly recommend if you want to know more about the area

Carlos was wonderful - he went above and beyond what was described in the tour information! We stopped to buy freshly ground coffee, then he took us to Mercado Municipal and showed us right where to go to get what we needed. His knowledge of the area and the things he showed us was amazing! The four of us had a great day with Carlos!

I booked a couple tours through Westjet Vacations from the Emporio Hotel through Isidro Reyes, the Westjet representative. One of these excursions, Eco Combo, Country Side Tour, was contracted out to Julio as my tour guide. Isidro did a great job of selling me this tour, saying it was the top tour in Ixtapa. As you can see from the write up on the brochure, it includes a "venture through the mangroves of a a bird sanctuary." This part I was really excited to see. As scheduled, I was picked up by Julio as my guide for this small group tour-there were only 4 of us, which was great. Upon first getting into the van, I mentioned how excited I was to go on the boat ride to see the bird sanctuary. I was told there would be NO boat ride. What? It's part of the package. There was no explanation. Julio did the tour showing us the coastline with wonderful views, then to the coconut plantation, then to a family that makes terra cotta tiles for roofs, then to lunch in Barra de Potosi. The lunch place is where the bird sanctuary is located. I tried again to ask if we could go on the boat ride. Apparently Julio was fairly anxious to get back but said if we wanted to go, he could check it out. There was another woman and I that wanted to go, but were told it would cost 700 pesos. What? I paid for this already, so why should I pay again? I was very disappointed to say the least. The next day when I saw I Isidro, the representative who set this tour up, I told him we did not get the boat ride to the bird sanctuary. He didn't seem surprised or offer any compensation. The tour was good, what we saw. Just make sure you get the whole tour.

Best of the best. Carlos the owner, the only guide speaks great English. I 100% recommend him and this tour - very fun informative day!!

We had a great day with Carlos! He is very knowledgeable, and did a super job, explaining and answering all our questions. He went above and beyond - took us to Mercado Municipal and helped us find everything we were looking for. We would definitely choose Carlos if we have a chance to do another tour. Our tour with Carlos was one of the best experience for the 2 of us to see many sites in local small towns on our drive to the coconut plantations and see how clay roof tiles are made. Our provided lunch at a beach side restaurant while watching pelicans diving for fish and eating fresh prepared meal wes great.Our tour of the coconut plantation and how the operation grew new coconuts from the seed, harvesting methods, and a great friendly gathering with the management family to have a frozen coconut milk popsicle. This gathering for us was a fantastic opportunity to share new friendships made.At our stop at the kiln place, Francisco showed us the roof tile making process and we actually made one tile ourselves.Carlo is a fantastic tour guide and we highly recommend using his tour guide services with him to new or old visitors to Ixtapa and Zihuatanejo.

I thought the trip was good but I have done many of the activities before. I enjoyed most the information about native plants.
