Murphy was great. He was casual and fun. Easy to understand and informative. We felt comfortable with him.I liked the itinerary, and it ticked off the big ticket items simply and efficiently. It was a big day but it wasn’t rushed. We had ample time everywhere and came back happy. The bus had tiny tight chairs but was clean and the aircon worked well.

Incredible Experience
We received a helpful WhatsApp confirmation with all key details one day before our tour. The gathering spot is easy to locate outside Subway Exit C. Mubas staff in red shirts are there, plus a 7‑Eleven and public restrooms nearby. Be fully ready before checking‑in, as you cannot leave after signing. The bus is not at the subway exit; we walked five minutes to board. Our 8 a.m. group arrived ahead of most tourists. Guide John is knowledgeable and breaks down complex Great‑Wall history simply. We bought cable‑car and slide tickets from him at official counter prices. After rain, the grand wall and rugged mountain views were spectacular. Mubas’ building has an air‑conditioned lounge with free snacks and water, and the upstairs buffet serves pizza and fresh produce.

Beijing In A Day
Another great option for those short on time and want to explore other key sites besides Forbidden City and Great Wall. Jessie was superb, both in terms of sharing the history and also management of the whole day, we were able to get ahead of traffic and peak rush and ended much earlier around 4pm. If you are Muslim though the lunch options are very limited in Hutongs so grab a quick pizza and explore the area a bit more instead. Jessie also accommodated my request to be dropped off at the 798 Art District instead of my hotel (if you have opted for pick and drop) which was super convenient and fully recommended! Lots of great dinner options there and easy to get a taxi back home.

Great Wall - great tour
We joined the Small Group Tour to the Mutianyu Great Wall, Summer Palace and Bird’s Nest, and Kevin was an excellent guide throughout the day. He explained each site clearly and in an interesting, engaging way that made the history easy to follow and enjoyable. The tour was well organised, the pacing was comfortable, and Kevin ensured we both understood the significance of each location without overwhelming us with information. His calm manner and thoughtful explanations added a lot to the experience. We highly recommend both this tour and Kevin as a guide.

Small-Group Mutianyu Great Wall and Summer Palace Tour with Lunch

Great tour with Andy!
The Mutianyu Great Wall and Summer Palace private Tour was really good. We had Andy as our guide and he was excellent, lots of knowledge and easy to talk to. Driver was also very nice and safe driving (Beijing drivers can be crazy!). We had a vehicle for ourselves with a lot of room and great AC. We enjoyed the early tour starting at the Great Wall, we avoided the crowds, was beautiful, took the toboggan to go down and seeing the crazy crowds coming up when we were leaving was very peaceful. The Summer Palace was packed but Andy gave us the basic tour & knowledge needed. The lunch was fantastic, good food and a lot of options. Two things to better this tour will be for them to have in the booking information the extra access cost (if wanted) to not get the bus and drive to the top, that way we are prepared and we don’t think is a scam. We did the extra, was only to buy merch at a location and spend a minimum of 80CNY per person, which we said yes to avoid the crowds, waiting longer and walking more. Before lunch they take you to a museum on the first floor but is for you to buy and the lady there was very pushy and followed us everywhere and I think that should not be added to this tour or give the option to not go in. Besides that, I definitely recommend this tour and our guide Andy who was very professional.

Book the trip that includes the meal.
Worth booking with the optional lunch - maybe it was because of the 4 hour hike beforehand, but the meal at the end tasted fantastic! Our guide Kevin spoke excellent English and had a good sense of humour, with lots of useful information. You really want to ensure you get at least 3-4 hours on the wall included in the timing of your visit.
