The most AMAZING trip!

This was the most AMAZING excursion! First up, our driver Dejana was spectacular. She was flexible, knowledgeable, friendly, welcoming and had excellent communication with us regarding times and pickup points. We started our morning by her picking us up at our hotel in a very nice Mercedes with cold waters waiting. We then headed towards the border crossing of which she has a very good working knowledge of which crossings were busy and which ones were not. This resulted in minimal delays at both border crossings. Our Cool Destinations description listed visiting Mostar as the first activity but she let us know the later in the day we got to the waterfall the busier it would be so we swapped the order of activities and she did not hesitate to accommodate that request. She gave us all the flexibility we wanted as far as timing at the different places and walked us through everything from purchasing tickets for the waterfall to showing us the most amazing restaurant for an authentic Bosnian meal. She even let us squeeze in an extra stop on the way back to our hotel which made the trip that much greater. I whole heartedly would recommend Dejana and this tour company! I am so grateful for the experience and can only hope to make it back one day and do other excursions with her!Rebekah W.

A personal experience

Medjugore was absolutely beautiful. I should have done more research about climbing apparition hill, there is no straight path. It’s all rocks but it’s doable, people of every age were climbing. Our guide Mario was wonderful, his knowledge was excellent and showed us spots we may want to return to later. The ride in the Mercedes was so smooth, he had water waiting for us. Great having tour guide who was willing to share personal experiences and know the history as well. We were able to decided how much time we wanted to spend where, so we Spent more time in medjugore than Mostar and it was nice being by ourselves we could really personalize where we wanted to spend our time.

Highly recommended tour of Bosnia & Herzegovina

We decided to have a more private experience of Bosnia & Herzegovina, with more flexibility, rather than a standard larger group tour, and with four people this wasn’t that much more expensive. Our first experience of Deja Tours was a transfer from the airport to Mlini and we were impressed with Dejana our driver and the quality of the minivan and therefore decided to take the tour with them. We were picked up at 0730 from our accommodation in Mlini and headed to Kravica Waterfalls first (c.2.5 hours) with Dejana our driver/guide giving us lots of information about the area en route and answering our many questions! The benefit of a private tour is also being able to stop for a toilet break/coffee stop when you want! Kravica was much better than expected and as we had left early, there were fewer people (only when we left at 12.45 were there hoards of people arriving on coaches). We enjoyed it so much, with our teen boys enjoying a swim in the waters below the falls, that we extended our stay by 30 minutes and simply messaged Dejana to let her know. There are water snakes in the water which is a bit strange as first, but they are harmless! We then travelled around 45 minutes to Mostar and Dejana, who is from Bosnia & Herzegovina, gave us more detailed information about her country and the many complexities around its history, religion, ethnicity and local politics (I was so intrigued that I’ve now purchased a book about the history of Bosnia!). Mostar was at the heart of the war in the early 1990s and although most of its buildings have now been restored/rebuilt (including its famous Old Bridge) there is still evidence of that war in derelict buildings in the town. It is a fascinating place and its Turkish heritage (400 years of Ottoman rule) is evident in its buildings, food and bazaar type shops in the Old Town. We spent 2.5 hours there and really enjoyed the food and sights of the town, including watching a local jump off the top of the Old Bridge. Dejana’s local knowledge directed us to an excellent restaurant and a pathway where there were few other tourists to view an earlier ‘test’ bridge built as a prototype ahead of committing to the larger more famous bridge (originally built in 1566). We agreed a time to meet Dejana and left the town at 1630, returning to Milini via a different route that took us through more beautiful Bosnia & Herzegovina countryside, but through towns where the legacy of the war from 30 years ago, is still evident. We arrived back at Mlini around 1915. It was a long but very enjoyable and interesting day and there is no doubt that having Dejana as our driver, with her extensive local knowledge, added significantly to our experience. I have no hesitation in recommending this tour and the many benefits of doing this privately. Thank you Dejana.
