Welcome to Homer

Homer Alaska is often called The End of the Road because it’s at the end of the Sterling Highway, 200 miles south of Anchorage on the northern shoreline of Kachemak Bay. The Bay splits the rugged Kenai Peninsula, and Homer is surrounded by wilderness and ocean. Once a coalmining town, Homer is now a center of commercial and sport fishing as well as outdoor tourism. Bear viewing in the Katmai or Lake Clark National Parks is very popular, and Kachemak Bay is full of marine life including humpback whales, orcas, porpoises, and sea otters. In town and along the Homer Spit, numerous art galleries and excellent dining centered around fresh seafood are treats to find in the unspoiled wilderness.
