Aberdeen Travel Guides (Updated September 2026)

The walking tour by Kristy was full of interesting facts about Aberdeen past and present. The walking pace is good for most people. There are sets of stairs you walk on this tour.

Rick was very passionate and knowledgeable about the City. We learned a lot and we knew a bit already about Aberdeen as we had already done the Old Aberdeen tour with Susan. We also had a impromptu stop at the church to see Piper Alpha memorial and art exhibition which would not normally have been open. Loved seeing the different coastal towns of Aberdeenshire, and Dunnottar Castle was a magnificent sight to see, must not be missed. Our tour guide Alex (pronounced Alec!) was very knowledgeable about the area, its agriculture and industry, and knew all the spots to go. We were traveling with a family member with an injured ankle and he gave her special attention while the rest of us climbed up and down the 250 steps of the castle, which made her feel very included and happy. Thanks Alex!!

A beautiful tour of the city on foot with the history as told thru its pictorial visions of street artists

Alex was a very friendly, helpful and knowledgeable guide. As the castle was temporarily closed when we passed by, he decided to bring us for lunch instead and we came back afterwards for the castle. Lunch was very good; in a small restaurant near the water. He adapted to the current situation and we were very happy about it. Castle views were amazing! It was a very nice excursion. Thank you

Very enjoyable stroll through Aberdeen with lots of interesting sites to see and stories to hear. Guide, Ollie, was engaging and fun!

Our tour guide, Alan, was absolutely outstanding. This tour is perfectly designed for cruise travelers, and we were delighted to experience it at a price that was significantly lower than the cruise line’s excursion.We were picked up directly at the cruise terminal and taken to the beautiful Falls of Feugh before heading to Balmoral. There was plenty of time to tour the ballroom, explore the gardens, and enjoy lunch.Afterward, we visited a charming village near Balmoral. Because we had a little extra time, Alan also took us to Drum Castle, which was an unexpected bonus.Alan’s knowledge of the Royal Family was exceptional, and we learned a tremendous amount throughout the day. This was one of the highlights of our trip, and I can’t recommend this tour highly enough.

Absolutely wonderful! We were on the Viking Jupiter, and Alan picked us up at the port. Alan was a great guide and kept us informed and entertained . Balmoral Castle was a real treasure. Fabulous gardens and so much history. A visit to the gift shop is a must. I highly recommend this wonderful tour.

We had Oliver for our tour guide. He was fabulous, his knowledge and experience of his city plus his passion for his home was great. He gave us a great perspective of the historical aspects of the city and the current state of it as well.

The street art is amazing and seemingly around every corner. Our guide, Kirsty, was very knowledgeable about the art and artists and the route and pace were perfect.

Lovely 2 hour walking tour discovering the hidden treasures and history of the city and country. Our guide Beth was delightful and a wealth of information and stories.

I hired Jamie directly through his website apathlessknown.com for a trip to Bullers of Buchan so I can see puffins and take photos. I wired him money from the states a while back to reserve the date. He picked me up at where I’m staying. It was a solo trip with him. FYI He does have a very nice van that can hold 7 people. Jamie is the most professional and kindest guide out there! So trustworthy and personable. So happy to find him! He will do what he can to make sure you get to see what you want (as much as nature cooperates!). Northeast Scotland - you can’t go wrong. You won’t be sorry!

It's been a couple of weeks since we finished our trip across Scotland and the Islay Island. From the conversations among our small group during the trip and afterwards, all while enjoying newly acquired bottles of whisky, the general consensus is that we would do it all over again tomorrow. WhiskyWheels showed us that they have an incredible ability to line up a wonderful itinerary, find the perfect drivers, and put us in hotels that are comfortable and full of character.Now that we're home, and the flavor of peety whiskys from Islay disappear from our memories, we are making purchases from the other regions of Scotland. The way it's going, there could be another tour request coming to show off the Speyside region. The "challenge" of smoke is at times, exactly what I'm looking for. But when I'm not, the Speyside smoothness makes drinking whisky super comfortable and relaxing.WhiskyWheels has a lot to show off to the world. Of course the whisky, but also the beautiful landscape, incredible history of churches and castles, as well as the amazingly friendly people. I hope WhiskyWheels and their network of drivers succeed in doing just that.

We had an absolutely wonderful three day tour with Malcolm. Everything was coordinated perfectly and customized to our schedule. Malcolm is so knowledgeable and we learned so much on our tour.
