West Bengal Travel Guides (Updated September 2026)

My private day tour of Kolkata with Muzzafar was honestly one of the highlights of my time in the city. What I really loved was that it went far beyond just visiting the main sights. Muzzafar has such a deep knowledge of Kolkata and West Bengal, and he was able to explain the history and culture in a way that actually made everything around me feel much more meaningful.By the end of the day, I felt like I understood Kolkata in a completely different way — how its fascinating past has shaped the city it is today, and how much character and energy there is in its contemporary culture.I genuinely don't think I would have learned anywhere near as much without Muzzafar. He was incredibly knowledgeable, easy to spend the day with, and clearly passionate about sharing his city.If you're visiting Kolkata and want to actually understand the place rather than just tick off a list of sights, I would absolutely recommend doing a tour with him. It made my time in Kolkata so much more memorable.

You can tell he genuinely cares about what he does. Would definitely recommend!

If you have a half day spare in Kolkata and you want an experience that will stand out in your memories, you should definitely consider doing this tour with Muzaffar. He went out of his way to look after us throughout the tour while treating us to a historical and cultural celebration of Kolkata that he tailored to our interests. I cannot speak too highly of this tour, it was simply fantastic.

We booked a one-day sightseeing tour in Kolkata with all the main highlights in mind, and it exceeded our expectations in every way. Muzaffar was an outstanding guide who brought this beautiful city to life for us.The itinerary was thoughtfully planned, and his deep knowledge of Kolkata’s history and culture truly impressed us. What made the experience especially memorable was how Muzaffar and his driver tailored the day to our interests, particularly our love for people and photography. It felt much more personal than a typical sightseeing tour; rather than just ticking off landmarks, we experienced the city from unique and meaningful perspectives. We felt completely comfortable and well taken care of throughout the day, with safe and smooth transportation thanks to the careful and mindful driver. We highly recommend Muzaffar to anyone looking to explore Kolkata in an authentic, engaging, and insightful way. Thank you again for such a wonderful experience!Best wishes, Thomas & Julia

This was an excellent tour and Muzaffar was an excelkent guide. The tour lasted 6 hours and we visited all of the main sites as well as some that we would never have seen by ourselves. Muzaffar brought to life the history and context of the sites we visited in a way that no guide book can match.

This was my third formal tour of Kolkata and I wanted to replicate the best one for a group of friends this Spring. Muzaffar was our guide and he was very happy to customize our stops and expertly share history and stories along the way. We had coffee together and went to the BEST lunch during the day.I also asked Muzaffar to arrange a private sunset boat cruise and that was magnificent! He became our local expert while here and even joined part of our team on an early morning trip back to the Howrah bridge to watch a local wrestling match and have breakfast. He is now a friend I have referred to others and I will definitely be using his services each time I return!

Amazing experience, Muzaffar was a great guide and was very knowledgeable. He went above and beyond helping us navigate the city throughout our trip. I would definitely book with him again in the future.

I had a really enjoyable, informative, and entertaining guide around some of the key highlights of Kolkata by Muzuffar who was great guide. Muzuffar was very knowledgeable of Kolkata history and of Kolkata life in general. He was friendly, personable and good company. Highly recommend!

We spent the day with Muzaffar as he showed us many parts of Calcutta. It included major attractions and places where we could see the local people at work.

I booked the tour and Muzaffar contacted me. On 25/02 , the day of the tour he reached before the stipulated time. We were warmly welcomed and the tour started. He was very much looking after our comfort and all the sightseeing and especially the flower market and Victoria memorial were amazing. We actually got a lot of knowledge about origins of modern Kolkata and how it shaped up over 300 years. At every stage we were guided and helped with busy road crossings. The Indian Coffee house and Rossogulla origin place were a highlight. I would strongly recommend this tour.

Muzaffar and his driver were amazing and went over and beyond. He packed so much into one day and tried his best to cover anything extra we mentioned. He got us flowers at the flower market and some sweets which were a nice addition to the amazing day. The tour itself was the best tour you could ask for covering a bit of everything the city is known for. We highly recommend this tour from 4 Australia's under 30 had lots of laughs and have taken away so many memories to share with friends and family.Thank you.

Muzaffar is a great guide! Composed, patient and exudes a calm aura amidst the chaotic Calcutta. Extremely knowledgeable and brought us through the history of Calcutta. It was a wonderful experience and we thoroughly enjoyed the tour. Looking forward to sipping a chai with you again in the near future!

Muzaffar was an exceptional tour guide and we got a tremendous feel for vibrant Kolkata. Muzaffar added some special touches to make my daughter’s birthday special and helped me get a particular gold bag. I would absolutely recommend Muzaffar and this tour.

Muzzafar Khan is a wonderful ambassador for Kolkata. My partner and I were in town only for a few days for a wedding and wanted to get a snapshot of the history and culture. We achieved that and more on our day with Muzzafar! He is knowledgeable, friendly and warm, adapting to our particular interests. He kept us entertained, hydrated and comfortable over several hours. This is by far one of the best tours we’ve ever been on.
