Utuado 2026 Calendar of Events

Maria was my tour guide, we met at the Walgreens in Utuado (the day before, she sent an address pin for the meeting spot). She was super helpful and knowledgeable. Very nice. She provided the safety gear and a wooden walking stick. The tour lasted about 2 hours. She taught us some history and facts about the agriculture of PR. She took the photos I’ve uploaded with this review! Things to keep in mind: she’s from the mountains, when you follow her up the windy roads to get to the canyon, you should know she drives like a local. I was able to keep up, so it wasn’t too crazy, but the roads can be intimidating to some, so just be aware. Also, the tour is fully in Spanish. Wear shoes that are grippy! I had a pair of water shoes that weren’t very grippy and I would’ve felt more secure with better shoes. One of the other ppl with me wore flip flops and she ended up just going barefoot for most of the trek.

Wonderful experience, of learning, culture, and human value. María was an excellent guide. I recommend them.

Maria was our tour guide and I was grateful for her knowledge and her love of the white canyon. She shared with us the history and the changes that the canyon has gone through. Shes not just a tour guide but a person who is passionate about sharing the history and keeping it clean so that it can be enjoyed by families for many years to come. After asking , She was able to suggest two eateries serving typical foods of the island in the area.

María and her nephew were amazing guides. They are heading a local grassroots effort to preserve Cañon Blanco and educate people on Taino history and culture. This was truly one of the most beautiful experiences of my vacation. Experience a day of walking, swimming, rich climbing and prehistoric history. Gracias!

María, she has been an excellent guide, she made us feel very confident, she knew the area very well and gave us a lot of geological and historical information.

This was a fabulous tourof Cañon Blanco, El Sofa, La Playita de Utudao y La Iglesia! Our guide, Maria is from Utuado and she gave us an account of the area both present and past. You are better off visiting during the week days to avoid the crowds. Maria gave us a tour of the petroglyphs made by the Taino Indians more than 500 years ago. A must see for Boricua enthusiasts like me!

We so enjoyed this tour and although we could go on our own, having a guide made us feel really safe. I am so glad we did.Our tour guide was super knowledgeable and helpful! They even arranged lunch from a local lady after the tour which was absolutely delicious.

The title is a little misleading as I expected to see more ruins, but ultimately it was about experiencing ancestral lands the Taino Indians frequented! And that experience is priceless! You got to feel the freedom locals have with access to such a great site right in their backyard! Expect Great views and opportunities to connect with the land and indigenous spirit of Puerto Rico! We waded in the water, climbed and some even swam! So make sure you are prepared for a full body work out! This tour is lengthy and a little physically challenging at points so I would not recommend for young kids or elders. The guide was kind, accommodating and made sure everyone felt safe and could access all the information necessary to have a great experience— including translations for English speaking guest

This was a wonderful tour for all ages! I believe we were the oldest (69-72), and it was exciting, somewhat difficult but safe and fun! For December, the water was cold but bearable… had to go in to experience El Sofa and floating with the river current! Highly recommend it!!!

Beautiful experience , stunning place ❤️We go with family and we enjoy our day together.At the end we go to a house and you can find local food.Utuado is beautiful and our people more beautiful.Thank you

We have been to Puerto Rico many times and it is amazing how many varieties of activities there are to do. We particularly very much enjoyed the Ruta Ancestral tour. Our guides (Ricardo and Maria) were very nice and helpful. We would like to come back and do it again some day.

An absolute don't miss! A local treasure about an hour and a half from San Juan. Well worth the trip, the guides are very knowledgeable and the location is just stunning. We saw over 20 petroglyphs 2 small water falls and got to jump from cliffs ranging from 5-30ft. Water is deep in jumping spots and shallow in other parts perfect to catch a breath and soak! The water was crystal clear and the temperature was perfect on a hot day. Make the journey ill definitely be back
