San Luis Obispo is a small city about 190 miles north of Los Angeles in Southern California’s Central Coast region. Founded in 1772 by Spanish Franciscan missionary Father Junípero Serra around the Mission San Luis Obispo de Tolosa, now beautifully restored, SLO features a friendly vibe and many attractions. The lively downtown offers a fun art scene including the infamous bubblegum alley. Walking tours visit unique eateries offering delicious food along with local wines, craft beers, and cocktails. The Paso Robles wine country is nearby, the beaches and surf of Morro Bay are very popular, and William Randolph Hearst’s fabulous hilltop Hearst Castle mansion and estate is a must-see.
