Portree 2026 Calendar of Events

What a great day spent with David we were a group of five with buried interest and he helped us sort a best route to meet everyone’s needs. He was prompt, courteous, and informative. No hesitation to recommend this company.

We booked a tour to see the Isle of Skye and we didn’t really know what we wanted to see or do, most of our research went toward what to do in the cities we were visiting. John was so knowledgeable and helped us decide which things we wanted to see/do! He gave us the information on all the spots and we decided on seeing the Old Man of Storr. It did not disappoint! Incredible views, and John was able to keep us ahead of the tour buses behind us so we were always a step ahead of the masses. You take a gamble when booking a 12 hour tour with a private guide, you never know who you’re going to get, thankfully John was so funny and interesting, there was never a dull moment in the car (which was very clean!) he even brought us a couple of Scottish snacks to taste. The 12 hours truly flew by, and by the end of the day it felt like a bunch of friends having a great time! We hope to return someday and if we do we will definitely be booking another one of his tours!

Thank you for a wonderful experience on Skye. I would highly recommend this tour to anyone who would like to comfortably see the scenery, do a few walks and have a spot of whiskey tasting. David was friendly and knowledgable and we had a great day. David was great at organising everything we wanted to do. I would happily book Explore Skye private tours again.

We had a great time with Fin and Michelle on the Isle of Skye!! Even with the wind and rain. We also did a private tour ,seeing the Old Pack Horse Bridge, Cairngorm National Park/the reindeer and the town of Aveimore. They made our trip!!

What a wonderful tour! We were looking for an 8 hour tour and a small group (there were 8 people). This one was perfect! Despite the mix of weather we had a lot of fun. Finella was a great guide and took us to all the main sites and tried to time the weather as best she could! Best tour I’ve had in Scotland! Highly recommend it if in Portree.

Driver (Willie) was very nice and knowledgeable. He did an awesome job. Went to many historical sites.

Our guide, Willie, was really accommodating about making sure we hit all the spots that were on our wish list for the day. He mapped out a route that allowed us to see everything and was open to changes along the way. He was also flexible with the timing at each stop and easygoing about our request for multiple coffee stops :).

Great tour of the countryside and castle. Guide also picked a great place for lunch with wonderful gluten free crab-cakes! Highly recommend booking!

We could not have hoped for a better day and guide on The Isle of Skye. Dezso (Chubby) was fantastic... from the thoughtful items throughout his van, to his area and historical knowledge, to his starting early to beat the crowds - we had a wonderful day on Skye. We highly recommend this tour and guide.

I couldn't have asked for a better guide for my private tour of the Isle of Skye. From the start, he took the time to genuinely listen to what I was interested in, and built the day around those interests rather than sticking to a generic checklist of stops. In addition to my actual tour he went out of his way to help me the day before as I needed a last minute ride from the train. His friendliness and authenticity made the day feel relaxed rather than rushed. It was clear he knows Skye inside and out — the kind of local knowledge and thoughtful planning that turns a good day out into a truly memorable one. Wow, what a day. The weather may not have been ideal but the experience certainly was. The sights were amazing and our guide Fin was fantastic. She was so entertaining and provided so much detail in an easy to absorb way. Probably THE best trip that we have ever gone on. Well done to The Tartan Trailblazer Tours for an amazing experience.

Our tour of the Isle of Skye was awesome! Fin was AMAZING! It was clear how much she genuinely loves Scotland and the Isle of Skye. Her passion for the area came through in every story, fact, and stop we went too. She was incredibly kind, funny, and knowledgeable, and she made us feel completely comfortable and cared for throughout the entire day. Fin shared music with us throughout the day which we loved so much. Even while driving us around for hours, she made the experience feel relaxed and enjoyable. Fin left us wanting MORE from the Isle of Skye and her tour!

This was the best tour of our vacation. John was awesome, so much fun and so much knowledge. My wife and I were the only people people in the van so it was a very private tour which was amazing. I can't recommend this tour enough.
