Welcome to New London

New London Connecticut is a seaport city set along the Thames River where it enters the far eastern end of Long Island Sound. Named by English colonists in 1658, New London is a historic Naval port, having been the base of American naval operations during the Revolutionary War and the site of many raids and battles. The harbor was New England’s second-busiest whaling port during the 19th century, and the United States Coast Guard Academy was founded at Fort Trumbull in 1915. New London visitors enjoy historic sites like the Bank Street Waterfront District, the 1852 Fort Trumbull, and colonial-era houses along with attractions like beautiful Ocean Beach State Park, schooner cruises, and two casinos.
