Mainz 2026 Calendar of Events

This is my second Carl experience (the first was a third wheel to coworkers at a book publishers convention and by the end, they were offering me a job and took me to dinner 😆).The SECOND round - better than the first, which is wild to say. Carl meets you at your hotel with a bottle in hand for the drive to winery Number 1. The boutique winery experience is so intimate, and Carl has such a great relationship with all of the owners. Tasted over 30 wines across three wineries - and he will adapt the itinerary to preference and history.SUCH a wonderful experience. Again. I’ve talked about my first trip for years, and apparently it still exceeded my husband’s (and MY) expectations.Just book it. Seriously.

Our wine tour with Carl at Grape Escapes was one of the highlights of our time in Frankfurt. From the moment he picked us up at our hotel until he dropped us off at the end of the day, everything was seamless, relaxed, and exceptionally well organized.Carl is an incredibly knowledgeable sommelier who took the time to understand our wine preferences. Knowing that we already enjoyed Pinot wines, he carefully selected wineries and tastings that matched our tastes while also encouraging us to explore local specialties. What impressed us most was how he introduced us to the region's Rieslings. By the end of the tour, we had developed a genuine appreciation and love for Rieslings that we never expected before the trip.Carl's passion for wine, deep knowledge of the region, and ability to make the experience both educational and enjoyable made the day truly memorable. We enjoyed the tour so much that we actually wanted to book a second tour before leaving Frankfurt, but unfortunately, we couldn't coordinate the schedules of the rest of our group.If I ever find myself back in Frankfurt, even if it's only for a single day, booking another tour with Carl will be at the top of my to-do list. Highly recommended for anyone looking for an authentic, personalized, and unforgettable wine experience.

Carl was an exceptional host and curated an excellent experience for us. We had a wonderful time with him and the wineries we visited. I strongly recommend this tour!

Carl was a very fun tour guide that started off and finished our day with a bottle of sparkling wine. We went to 3 different Reisling wineries and tasted many different variations of Reisling and had a yummy meal in the middle. He was even able to accommodate my wheat alergy. We had a small fun group and a lot of laughs.

Our English speaking tour guide, Judith made the Gutenberg Museum very interesting and informative. Without a guide this museum would take less than 30 min. We had a full hour+ and enjoyed every bit of it. It was a very in depth experience into the history of printing and Gutenbergs contribution to mass production of the written word.

Our tour guide, Judith is very knowledgeable and speaks very excellent and understandable English. She did a great job of explaining the whole printing process and history of printing as well as explaining Gutenbergs contribution to history. It was a fascinating and informative tour.

We had a wine tasting for just for the 2 of us in the underground cellar. Jerome was excellent at explaining the diverse regions with the different slopes and the climate conditions of the different regions. We tried a range of wines and i really enjoyed a Sparkling Reisling Brut and a Pinot from the winery house Branewell.

Wonderful guide! Was very experienced in her topic. Very friendly and efficient in her service provided.

I booked this wine experience as a gift for my boyfriend, and he very much enjoyed it! I normally don’t drink, but I actually really liked the wines! Thank you Carl for a great experience!

This was a complete wine and fun experience. Karl was extremely knowledgeable and guided our small group through an amazing array of quality wine from the largest of producers to family owned hand made wines. It was a chance to discover the exciting new wine varieties and styles Germany has to offer. A day to remember. Well done Karl.

I was super impressed at how well Andreas easily switched back and forth between English and German, and always managed to keep everyone interested. He was a wealth of knowledge and information.

The wine tasting was amazing our guide was so knowledgeable and gave a brief but detailed history of the art of wine making in Germany. We sampled some amazing wine and learned so much! Definitely would recommend this tour. Was 10/10!
