Kentucky Travel Guides (Updated September 2026)

Small tour but BIG opportunities to see how trains worked in the past with informative details that I had no idea about. It was an excellent tour and seeing the inside of a train was very cool! I had never been in one. The employees were so sweet and our tour guide Nancy-well she was so friendly and so knowledgeable that we could have talked another hour with her. She made the tour go from good to great!

Interesting exposure to off the beaten track farms where we were the only ones there. 3rd generation business who is well known by farm owners and stable staff alike.

This was different than any tour I have ever taken. It is limited to a handful of people and we visited 3 horse farms. We had the opportunity to to get up close to the horses and learned just how much they love peppermint candy we fed them. Our tour guide Shawn (or Sean?)was very knowledgeable about all the other farms we passed and the Kentucky Derby. His stories held our attention and only enhanced an otherwise excellent tour. I would highly recommend it.

Arrive early for parking nearest museum. The ticket allows entry anytime during hours, you can roam the museum, catch a short 15 min video. Tour walks to back to stands area. Has a gift shop and small cafe. They were offering a Kentucky derby souvenir glass with order of a mint julep drink!

Great tour. My first experience knowing about horses and their history. So many farms and beautiful land. Awesome tour guy. I do recommend it. It was a group of 10 people only which was good. Not crowded, beautiful day as well.

Harlan was excellent! She had great stories and the places we visited were definitely eerie. I wanted more on the murder house, even though I already watched the documentary.

We had an amazing morning with our tour guide Christopher! He was kind, funny, and well versed in the horse racing business. Our group asked lots of good questions and received great answers. Highly recommend.

We had so much fun. The guide took care of everything. We were even able to stop at two extra distilleries.

We had a great evening! The food was fantastic and the drinks were delicious! Cat told us several stories about Lexington and each of the places we visited. If you are looking for a different night out, I highly encourage you to book this tour!

The story behind this railroad was interesting. It’s a great place for the area because if it’s history. We only did the museum and not the train ride or tour.

Lamar was a fantastic host and driver. From the moment he arrived the experience began and we all felt very welcomed. His knowledge of the area and ways to experience the bourbon trail was top notch and he was happy to accommodate any requests or side quests that came about during our trip.
