Ioannina Travel Guides (Updated September 2026)

This is a great way to see many parts of the Vikos National Park. We really had a delightful time and the scenery is fabulous. Ioannis was the perfect guide who safely guided us through windy mountain roads to all the must see spots. It was a fantastic way to spend the day and I would sign up again in a heartbeat!

We had an absolutely fantastic day exploring the beautiful Epirus region and visiting the spectacular Zagori villages with Ioannis.The scenery was simply breathtaking, from the dramatic Vikos Gorge to the picturesque mountain landscapes and the incredible traditional stone bridges. The charm of the villages, combined with the warmth and friendliness of the local people, made the experience truly special.Our guide, Ioannis, was exceptional. He was a wealth of knowledge about the region, its history, culture and traditions, and his great sense of humour made the day even more enjoyable. He was also extremely accommodating and flexible, ensuring that we could make the most of every moment and experience the region at our own pace.Ioannis went above and beyond to make our day memorable, and his passion for Epirus really shone through. We saw some truly spectacular places and created wonderful memories that we will treasure.

Tzoumerka is a gorgeous place to visit - magnificent views from the mountains, splendid nature, impressive waterfalls, pittoresque villages. We visited also two monasterys, a cave and an art museum. Vassilis was a very competent and pleasant tour guide, we enjoyed every minute of that wonderful day.

We really had a wonderful day. Zagori is a gorgeous region to visit and Aleksis is a brilliant tour guide.

My friend and I had a great private tour with Ioannis and Angeliki! They picked us up from our accomodation and we hit the road en route to Meteora and its Monasteries. We took stops along to each Monastery, and Ioannis had his go pro to get some great photos of us at each location! Plenty of information was handed over to us about the monasteries, Meteora and the region itself. It was a great bonding experience between myself, my friend and our two hosts, who gave us a great restaurant and dessert recommendations, and we even had a disco jam on the way back to Ioannina! We had a fantastic time and we can’t thank Ioannis and Angeliki enough for the trip we had with them!

A great experience! Our guide Alexis knows these mountains, villages, and roads by heart! He had planned everything, even umbrellas because rain was forecast in the afternoon. He was also attentive to our visit requests and answered our questions as best as possible! This guided tour of the Zagoria was really a plus for us (private tour for two people): Alexis told us historical anecdotes, but also architectural ones and those relating to daily life in these villages, which really enriched the visit and our discovery of the places! Our guide was delighted to be with! He brought us to some fascinating places and explained the historical significance and the current scene in detail, and in a very interesting way. We truly enjoyed being with him and very much benefited from his knowledge and his guidance.

We had an absolutely fabulous day on our Guided all day tour in Central Zagori villages. We learned so much, Giannis had so much information to share with us. He really was a fantastic guide and travel companion. We were blessed with dry weather as it had been very wet on previous days. The villages, bridges and gorge really came alive as Giannis explained the history, architecture and archaeology to us. Thank you so much Giannis for a tremendous day

Vangeli was our tour guide and he was exceptional sharing a lot of history of the area. He knew a lot because he was from Sagori and his history background. The mountains are majestic, the Gorge did not disappoint. We enjoyed breaking bread with him in Monodendri. He took us to the petrified forest.

I did several tours with Epirus Adventures. All were great. The Ioannina city and island tour was conducted by Maria, one of the best tour guides I’ve had. She’s an archaeologist, and I learned a ton of history. The Zagori Sightseeing tour was conducted by Giorgios, who owns the company. We visited several stone villages, amazing viewpoints, and interesting archeological features. The Zagori region is stunningly beautiful and there were very few tourists in September. Georgios is super friendly and a very professional and engaging companion. I also did a hike with Lazaros to a number of stone bridges; while challenging, it was a fantastic day out amidst beautiful scenery. Giorgios also drove me to Meteora. As a solo female traveler, I felt completely safe and looked after at all times, and I would definitely recommend this company to any and all.

Our guide Alexis, from Alpine Zone, was extremely knowledgeable guiding us to and through the history of Ioannina, all the way making stops to try the foods and drinks (lots of). We highly recommend the tour and Alexis.

Dimitris and Pablo were professional and did good orgies all the way. Not suitable for small kids and those who are really cold to them, but otherwise highly recommend.

I joined a canyoning trip in Zagori and it was a really amazing experience. The area is beautiful, with clear water and waterfalls, and the route was fun without being too difficult. Our guides, Angel and Kostas, were professional, patient and made sure everything was safe. They also kept a relaxed atmosphere, which made the day more enjoyable.Overall, it was a perfect mix of nature and adventure, and I would recommend it if you’re visiting the area.
