Welcome to Cape May

In southeastern New Jersey, the Cape May peninsula separates the Atlantic Ocean from Delaware Bay. At the peninsula’s tip, Cape May City sits on an island created by a canal joining Cape May harbor to the Bay. A colonial fishing and whaling town that became the country’s first seaside resort, the city is a National Historic Landmark. Victorian-era buildings line tree-shaded streets in this classic American small town. Historic sites, galleries, bars, seafood restaurants, and arcades provide entertainment. Sandy beaches line the shore, whale and dolphin watching are excellent, the salt marsh areas near town are filled with birds and wildlife, and calm Cape Island Creek is great for paddle sports.
