Bratislava Travel Guides (Updated September 2026)

Matthew is a very knowledgeable and talented guide with an impressive understanding of his country’s history. As we walked through the city and visited its different sites, he brought Bratislava’s history to life by explaining its political, social, and cultural development chronologically, from the Stone Age to the present day. His explanations gave us a much deeper understanding and appreciation of this beautiful city. Matthew was able to answer all of our questions with great insight and enthusiasm, and we felt truly privileged to have had the opportunity to explore Bratislava with him. Excellent and informative! I’ve already forgotten the name of my tour guide, but he was younger with dreads. He was eager to answer questions and very interesting to chat with. I learned so much about Bratislava I hadn’t picked up from just walking around town. He gave good recs for food and other things to do too since he was very familiar with the city. Highly recommend!

Amazing experience, completely different way to view the city. Guide was extremely knowledgeable and helpful. Great to say we have been kayaking in the Danube River and got to go for a swim after. The photos that were took by the guide and sent on after was an added bonus. Definitely an activity worth doing while in Bratislava

Our tour guide, Danny, was enthusiastic and friendly. He kept us all informed throughout the tour and took time to explain the historical and cultural points of interest. I would recommend this tour as it is not only good value for money but also a great opportunity to explore another country within driving distance.

A great tour of villages, castles and the high tatras. We were picked up by the guide at our apartment. Milos (the guide and also driver) was very friendly and could tell a lot about the area and the country. During the trip he always coordinated with the participants how we would shape the program. It was a long tour but very rewarding. We can recommend this to everyone. Thanks for the wonderful day Milos!

This was a fantastic way to see key sights, lakes and castles across Northern Slovakia. Miloš was a brilliant and friendly guide who provided lots of information about Slovakia’s rich history and ensured that all members of the group were included and engaged. He was committed to making sure that we seen as much as possible, without it feeling rushed. Orava Castle is an impressive medieval fortress but nothing compared to Bojnice Castle which is not only more aesthetic, with an interesting historical and walking tour provided but there could be more time spent in the general area (your guide will be able to provide you with recommendations) If you’re given the option, Orava castle would be the one to skip. It’s a long day and all of the castles are up steep inclines or have lots of towering stairs (something to consider if you have mobility issues) but very enjoyable. There are short stop off breaks every few hours. Bring snacks, water and prepare to venture out, rain or shine. This trip also offers a pick up and drop off to your hotel whereas most other tours will have a generic city centre drop off point.

I had an excellent private one-on-one tour of Bratislava with Jakub. He showed me all of the city’s key landmarks and shared fascinating insights about their history and significance. Jakub was incredibly knowledgeable, patient with all of my questions, and took the time to explain everything thoroughly. His friendly and engaging approach made the experience both enjoyable and informative. I highly recommend Jakub to anyone looking for a personalized and memorable tour of Bratislava!

Our guide Nika was very helpful since in our group there were some who had never used a kayak before, we were given a locker for any valuables and drinking water from the building as it was a hot day. Nika also took photos and videos for us and sent them on afterwards since we didn’t have our phones out on the water. The rope tied surfboard to the river bank was also great fun and a good surprise to get a break from paddling and try out something new, all round 10/10 activity for the 40 degree weather right now!

The price was reasonable. The van was very comfortable. The tour guide, Richard, was professional and knowledgeable. He was pickup us when we lost the direction. His instruction was very clear. Our group was very small - only three people. Comfortable and beautiful Wachau. The Melk Abbey was amazing also. Boat tour was excellent. Leisure walking and had a lunch in Salzburg. Although the length of tour was little bit long, I still highly recommended this one-day tour. Unforgettable experience.

This tour was fantastic! Linda was an amazing tour guide and brought us to places that seemed very true to Slovakian culture and were delicious. The food she had us eating was incredible. I absolutely loved this tour and will definitely recommend it to others.

This is a fantastic tour. Linda is wonderful and the food was incredible. I’ve been on multiple food tours in multiple countries over the past decade and I can tell you this was the first time I loved every bite. Usually there are one or two things that are okay. Highly recommend doing a walking tour of Bratislava with local guide, Jarka. She is so knowledgeable and enthusiastic, sharing her vast knowledge and love of this amazing city and country with us. She even took photos of us, which was lovely. With Jarka we explored the old city and walked up to the castle. In addition to telling us about Bratislava’s history, she took us into several hidden places which we would never have found ourselves. Thanks Jarka for an enjoyable and informative tour.

We went on a free walking tour with Jakub around Bratislava at 15.00 which lasted just over 2 hours. Jakub took us through a lot of the history of the city ending at the castle. We also visited key spots in the city such as the man at work, Napoleon cannonballs, UFO and had key recommendations provided at the end.It was well paced, had comfort break halfway through and Jakub was a brilliant, knowledgeable and experienced guide who showed a genuine passion for the city.
