Top Day Trips from Ay (Updated October 2026)

Tour guide Jen is the best guide we have ever had… Very intelligent, calm, safe driver, engaged, committed, and capable of great things in her future… she was the champagne country by herself .. we think she is exceptional.

Wonderful experience- thanks Philippe!

Fun tour, beautiful scenery thru the vineyards. Our guide was entertaining and knowledgeable. You need average to above average bike skills to enjoy it thoroughly. Great wine!

Maelle, we want to sincerely thank you for a wonderful tour this morning. Your passion, knowledge, and genuine interest in meeting new people were truly amazing! The views were beautiful, we learned so much from you and the Champagne was pretty good too :-)We can’t wait to return and explore more of this beautiful region. Visiting the independent Champagne houses was a highlight, especially because there was never any pressure to purchase their products. Thanks again, Craig and Coral.

This was a great wine tasting and lunch experience with Les Cobler. We loved the small family champagne making story and learning the process and doing the recap sense and taste testing before lunch. Lunch was brilliant , the host was fantastic , we really thought this was one of our Reims/Epernay tasting experience.

An excellent experience, Philipe was extremely knowledgeable about everything champagne as a previous champagne maker and his early experience learning the business in the vineyards . His commentary along the way was most informative and our understanding and education of the industry, production, challenges and successes is now way better than we had before. The lunch was great in Ay Champagne and we had the opportunity to say hallo to Isabelle the owner of the company. Although the funky eclectic beach car was unique I think we would have preferred a small luxury vehicle to match the price of the tour in the future and a pickup direct from our hotel in Epernay . We were dropped back directly at the hotel . Thankyou for a great experience

Chloe was very educated and had great communication skills. She was sweet and patient and helped us understand the champagne making process better than I’ve ever heard before. (I’m from wine country in California so sparkling wine, I know, is very different). She is a treasure. I hope she is very appreciated.

Due to the heatwave, our trip was switched from e-bikes to a minivan which was a bit disappointing, however the tour was still excellent and informative. Our guide was great - she was knowledgeable and enthusiastic. We visited vineyards and 3 different champagne producers with tasting - each place was contrasting and uniquely individual. A fascinating tour. Would definitely recommend.

This was an amazing experience! We had such a great time with Maelle. She was one of the best guides we have had. She was very personable, very knowledgeable about the champagnes and champagne making process, and we learned a lot and had a lot of fun. She takes you to two smaller, independent wineries which is exactly what we were looking for. Highly recommend!

This is a must-do if you are in the Champagne region. Le Clos Corbier is a lovely smaller champagne house. I attended with my 82 year-old mother and my three adult daughters. Our tour guide, Kevin, was knowledgeable and funny and he made sure everyone in the group enjoyed the tour while learning a lot about the art of champage-making. I also highly recommend having lunch. It was a wonderful way to wrap up a beautiful morning in a beautiful place with lovely people.

Philippe was a fabulous guide on this tour. He was knowledgeable, very friendly and helpful. He showed us a couple of small artisan champagne houses, which was excellent to see and we finished up visiting Dom Perignon’s resting place. The whole half day was beyond expectation and I would thoroughly recommend Philippe to friends and family.

Absolutely brilliant day - can’t speak highly enough of it. Philippe is an expert in his field and he spent the day showing and telling us everything he knew about champagne making. We started at the vines and moved right through the entire process, on the ground and in the cellars of smaller, artisanal houses in the countryside around Epernay. Sure, do a few of the big houses, but if you want passion and craft this tour is for you.

Definitely worth it! The train from Paris takes only about an hour, making it an easy afternoon/day trip. It's the perfect escape from the crowds and a chance to experience an authentic French town. Richard was an outstanding guide, friendly, engaging, and incredibly knowledgeable about Champagne. If you're looking for something different from the typical Paris itinerary, this experience is absolutely worth your time. I can say now that I had Champagne in Champagne!

We had such a great afternoon! Can definately recomment to book this tour for your visit to the champagne regio. Nice views, lovely eco car, delicious champagne and a great guide who tells a lot. Not to miss! Enjoy!

Friendly, informative, and knowledgeable tour of a family Champagne house. Would recommend this tour as there was no hard sell but owing to the quality we bought several cases. Superb experience.

Interactive and very well done, we learn a lot about champagne, its design and peripheral professions.
