Top Zermatt Rail Tours

I had an unforgettable day in Zermatt thanks to my incredible private guide, Ivana Parchuc. She reached out before my arrival to introduce herself and confirm every detail, which meant so much to me as a solo traveler. Ivana went above and beyond from the start — even securing a last‑minute tandem paraglide experience that became one of the highlights of my entire trip.On the day of our hike, she arrived early, fully prepared, and handled all train and entrance tickets so I could simply enjoy the journey. We took the Gornergrat cogwheel train to breathtaking 360° alpine views, then hiked through a stunning nature reserve where the Matterhorn reflected perfectly in crystal‑clear lakes. Ivana shared rich history about Zermatt, the canton, local wildlife, and even brought books to show photos of the animals and flowers we encountered. She gave me all the time I needed to soak in the scenery, took beautiful photos of me, checked in often, and made sure I felt comfortable and unrushed. Our peaceful picnic overlooking the Matterhorn was unforgettable — and the paraglide that followed was pure magic. Afterward, Ivana continued guiding me through Zermatt’s old and new town, sharing stories and history that brought the village to life.Ivana delivered the most epic, seamless, joy‑filled day I could have imagined. Her kindness, knowledge, and genuine enthusiasm made this experience extraordinary. I would recommend her 100/10 — truly a ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ guide. Thank you, Ivana! I will forever remember you!

This was a great tour with a lot of interesting facts that I would otherwise have not known. Beautiful area to visit. Must see scenery! Our guide was very personable making it our experience. The only downfall was finding our guide as we were given just a street address to meet not a specific location. We wandered for a half hour prior to finding our guide.

Fantastic day. Thanks for the experience.

Super interesting experience! Our guide, Remi was an expert Mountaineer (he has actually climbed The Matterhorn!) the experience was two in one - we first went up to the top of the mountain for a close up view of the Matterhorn and went inside a glacier! We then had a great tour of the Zermatt village - learning about its history and current activities. Thanks Remi for a very memorable day!!

Pete was phenomenal! He contacted us the day before our hike to confirm the plan for the day and ensure we had all the details including a link for the local weather forecast. He met us at our hotel the next morning right on time and we immediately felt comfortable with him. We walked to the cog train and boarded for the trip to Gornergrat. Once on top, we quickly learned that Pete has a wealth of knowledge of the area and its history. He guided us through breathtaking scenery and helped us capture some absolutely stunning pictures (he has a photographer’s eye). Throughout our hike, he kept us informed, engaged in delightful conversation, and kept us well nourished with some delicious home made chocolate he brought for the hike. We cannot say enough great things about Pete. He definitely helped make it an absolutely memorable day! Thanks Pete!

I took this tour on my second day hiking and Cedric customized it based on my interests. He knows the trails like the back of his hands and time every move accordingly to accommodate you and get the best of your time. I highly recommend this tour to anyone who is new to Zermatt and needs to learn the mountains.

Wonderful experience and some of the best views were before you even get off the train. Our guide was fantastic and told us where to sit for the best photo ops. Watch the weather! If it is cloudy, you should probably cancel because you will not be able to see the Matterhorn unless it's clear or mostly clear. Not worth the money if you can't see the top!

Zermatt and the Matterhorn are breathtakingly beautiful. The tour was exceptional. I highly recommend for anyone traveling to the region.

Mike was knowledgeable friendly, fun and made our experience totally enjoyable!! We recommend this tour!

Gioia was an amazing guide. The trip was exceedingly well planned. We were able to see all the things we wanted to see and so much more. Gioia provided fascinating information about our hike, the town of Zermatt and the history of the area. She was able to answer every wuestion the 3 of us came up with but so much more. We saw beautiful views of the Matterhorn and enjoyed a wonderful day.Recommend it to anyone who wants to experience Swiss nature and the Matterhorn. Unforgettable.

Beautiful views of Gornergrat. Zermatt is a small town. Guide was experienced guy and helped us when needed.

Tony was our guide for the day and he was excellent!!! Met us on time at the hotel and enjoyed a nice walk around Zermatt explaining about the town, its history and development before taking the train up the mountain. I believe we saw much more and had a great experience as Tony knew where and when to get thru all there was to see and do. Very much worth the time. We would highly recommend!! Cool Destinations was very easy to deal with and very professional. A great experience!

This is a great experience - spectacular views of the Matterhorn and neighboring peaks and glaciers all along the way. There is a short walk to the cable cars and then two cable car rides to reach the Matterhorn Glacial Paradise. Great views from up here as well as ice caves to explore. Remember to bring warm clothing! Salma our guide made the experience very interesting by telling us the history of the Zermatt town and surroundings.

This tour was long, but really lovely! Salma had so much knowledge and was so informative. We really enjoyed the views of the Matterhorn and had a great experience overall. Zermatt was also a very cute town and we learned a lot by walking thru it. All the train tickets and the Matterhorn ticket were included and it was so nice to have someone take us and know exactly where we needed to go. Would definitely recommend for anyone looking to see the Matterhorn and Zermatt.

My wife and I had a terrific experience with Jack Jennings on a nearly full-day Gornergrat hiking and Alpine sightseeing tour. The day featured breathtaking views of the surrounding peaks, the iconic Matterhorn, and several historic sites and buildings around Zermatt. After exploring Gornergrat, we made our way back toward Zermatt with a series of well-chosen stops along the railway for spectacular viewpoints and photo opportunities. We also enjoyed an easy hike through beautiful forests and countryside, allowing us to experience the area at a relaxed pace.Jack was exceptionally knowledgeable, attentive to our interests and abilities, and skilled at tailoring the day to make it both enjoyable and memorable. Beyond being a highly qualified guide, he was simply great company—friendly, engaging, and someone you genuinely enjoy spending a day with.We would highly recommend Jack to anyone looking for a first-rate guide in the Zermatt area.

Jack Jennings is an outstanding guide. He's very personable and very knowledgeable about the history and culture of Switzerland and Zermatt. We had a somewhat challenging hike, but he paced it perfectly to suit our senior legs. Great tour, great guide, great day on the mountain with him.
