Durango Travel Guides (Updated September 2026)

So glad we chose to do this adventure. Jared, our guide, picked us up at 8 in Durango and off to Silverton. Had time for coffee and restroom break while he switched out vehicles and then off we went. Jared was very knowledgeable about the area, wildlife and history. Also a great driver. Asked before we started if we would be scared of heights and steep drop off so that he made sure we would get the adventure we wanted. Took us up the off trail to Corkscrew Gulch. Wonderful scenery. No way to see this except off roading. Returned to Silverton at 1. Had plenty of time to get lunch and look at some shops. Took the 3:15 steam train back to Durango. Wonderful day. So glad we decided on this instead of up and back on train. Also shout out to office staff who does amazing job communicating. Multiple emails and text to make sure you’ve book the train, know where and when to meet, etc. Great job. Thanks for a memorable day.

We booked the 6-zipline tour directly with Durango Adventures on our trip to CO. Previously we have only done aerial adventures with short ziplines, so I was a bit nervous to do an all-zipline tour with long distances, hence I booked us on the 6 instead of the 12, thinking 6 is plenty enough. On hindsight, we should have done the 12 because I ended up having so much fun.You do need to hike 10-15 minutes uphill at the beginning. Our guides, Emily and Reba, made sure we have breaks and did not rush us. Emily and Reba were super patient. They also have water and snacks available. They are very professional especially when it comes to the harness and all the equpiment. I felt very safe with them. If there are specific instructions for a line, they will first mention it to the whole group, but will repeat the instructions to each person as we launch.I also like the fact that I don't need to worry about breaking - they do the breaking for us and making the landing pretty easy. I ended up enjoying it so much more than I had expected, and really wish we had gone for the 12-zipline!

Fantastic!!! The experienced guides made it especially enjoyable. Anthony D. went above and beyond to help coach and encourage me as a first time white water kayaker. He is awesome!! Highly recommend this group. Highlight of my trip!

First greeting from everyone was pleasant and friendly. All were very friendly and a warm welcome. Dillon was a wonderfull instructor and tour guide . Very pleasant and enjoyable trip. My friend on the trip ,it was her first time. Her husband was pleased that she wasn't scared . She can't swim. She wants to go again YAY!!! The other guy that was in the shop also was very pleasant.. A wonderful experience truly. Thanks for grand time. Looking forward to do another rafting trip with that group. Susan Cortese

Dillon and Peyton were our guides for this trip. They were wonderfully friendly and knowledgeable and we were very impressed with their professionalism and hospitality. We highly recommend them and their company, Mild2WildRafting.

Jay did a terrific job with our tour! We toured the San Jaun mountains where we were able to visit 3 mining towns/ghost towns. So many beautiful sites with several locations in the fall colors. Jay made all of us feel so welcome!

Well worth the cost. Makes the trip enjoyable and educational. Can be a distraction from the sheer cliffs

This was the BEST 20 bucks i have ever spent. Stopped at a lot of the points of interests and made a whole day trip of it. Highly recommend!

Eli was a great guide and helped us a lot through the Rocks since the water level was pretty low. It was harder work than we thought because of the water level but we had a great time. I would do it again at a higher water level. We are 65 and 67 years old so that may be why we had to work harder!

It was a fun experience. $400 for three people so it was a little pricey I thought. But it was beautiful.

We had a great time in the 1/4 day guided kayak rafting trip! Our guide, Ant, was awesome and made sure we knew what to expect and gave us great instruction the whole way! Highly recommend Mild to Wild if you are looking for a rafting or kayaking tour! We would absolutely use them again.

Extremely informative and interesting tour throughout the whole park. Never many gaps in the narrative, and when there were, the music was nice!

We rafted on the Animas River and had a wonderful time! Our guide Ashton was extremely knowledgeable about navigating the river, informing us about sights along the route, providing important safety instructions, and making the trip fun - he did a fantastic job, and it was an enjoyable and memorable experience for our group.
