Wonderful experience visiting black sea region. The scenery was beautiful and the overall trip was organised. Worth visiting

What a wonderful trip! Ancient monuments, churches, palaces, castles and mosques. We travelled through wild places with spectacular scenery. We ate far too much and stayed in comfortable hotels. Our guide Ahmet Gülmez has an encyclopedic knowledge of Turkish history and culture and he brought alive the cultures of the Black Sea, Anatolia and Mesopotamia. He educated us and entertained us and worked hard to make sure we were happy. I appreciated his shared photographs which are a much better quality than mine. Serhat was a safe and professional driver and a cheerful and friendly companion. There were many highlights. Sumela, Ani, Akdamar, Mt Nemrut, Ishak Pasha and Gobeklitepe were standouts. Many kilometres were travelled and this was well managed. However the Mercedes vehicle was simply too small for 5 passengers and their bags. For a tall man it was tricky getting in and out of the car. Toyota offers more comfortable options.

This is a well thought out and balanced itinerary to see stunning scenery, historical landmarks and local culture of Eastern Turkey. Due to the cancellation of the other participants, my tour became a private tour. Sabahattin, my guide was absolutely exceptional. Informative, kind and funny! I learned a lot about history, culture and current occurring of the area we visited. His restaurant choice was great as well so that I had the best local specialities. This was my second visit to Turkey - Hope to visit again soon to see the places I didn't visit this time with Sabahattin. Alkans tour was very generous they changed my hotel booking to better suit my needs and also refund me my unused domestic airfare. Lastly, thank you Nick for arranging this tour.

My family and I recently went on a private Black Sea Adventure Tour with Sunnova Travel, and we had a fantastic trip. Right from the beginning, the instructions for our airport meetup were clear, and the communication during the planning and tour phases was consistent, which we appreciated.We started in Trabzon at a hilltop restaurant with a splendid view of the city. We enjoyed Turkish tea and chatted with our tour hosts, Veysel and Muhammet. Visiting the Sumela Monastery was impressive, perched on the side of a mountain, and our guide Veysel did a fabulous job explaining its historical significance. The drive in the Highlands was picturesque, with stunning mountain views, tree-lined landscapes, and charming villages along the way. The waterfalls we encountered during our hikes were beautiful, and the hike itself was rewarding.Our stay at the Pokut Orion Boutique Hotel was very comfortable, and the hosts were so friendly and accommodating. Despite a rainy afternoon, we had a pleasant time playing backgammon with Muhammet. Ayes, the owner, prepared a delicious homemade Turkish dinner and a generous breakfast. Muhammet’s guitar playing and the hosts’ bagpipe performance added a lovely local touch.It was a special experience to visit Muhammet’s parents’ house and tea garden. There, we not only enjoyed tea but had the privilege of attempting to harvest tea leaves from the garden, some of us with more success than others.Throughout the trip, the restaurant recommendations consistently delivered authentic Turkish farm-to-table food, and we also developed a taste for Turkish tea.Overall, our tour with Sunnova Travel was a great experience, and we would recommend it to others looking for an enjoyable tour. We are group of ex-schoolmates in the 6-series age group. Sunnova Travel in particular Mr Alican provide an excellent service in helping me customize our 6D/5N private tour to the Black Sea. Our tour package includes visits to Trabzon city, Sumela-Uzungol-Pokut-Ayder-Rize tea plantations - top of the visits will be Pokut Highlands which was highly recommended by Mr Alican. The Black Sea tour offers an amazing view coupled with some "adventurous" activities for the people from the 6-series. We have an experienced and cheerful tour guide Celal who not only gave an excellent tour guidance for the places that we visited but he also gave good suggestions of restaurants where we had our meals. Top of it he sang some traditional Turkish songs for us while playing the musical instrument. Our driver for the tour Erkan also took great care of us where he helped us "to finish the walks and climbs" of the tour. My recommendation for those who intend to go to the Black Sea - do not miss out Pokut - the experience to be above the clouds. A private tour of 7D/6N or more is recommended to allow you to follow the tour at a slower pace and allows you the the time to enjoy the tour. The Black Sea tour should not be done in a rush.

Mount Kackar summit was made as smooth as possible with Sunnova travel. Loved every moment of this tour. The landscape is very beautiful and you won't find a lot of traffic on this 4 day trek and that makes it even more magical.

Yeah, this trip is definitely worth investing in. Sabahettin was an amazing and very, very knowledgeable guide. He knew the area intimately, he tailored the trip to our needs perfectly, and he matched us with the food and the fun that we wanted. Weather was hot during the summer, especially around Diyarbakr, but he made the best of it. No question, one of the best tours I have ever had!

Returned from an amazing trip starting in Trabzon. Turned out we were the only two people on the tour so became a private tour! Our guide Adem Kocaman brought everything to life with his superb knowledge, enthusiasm (and humour!). Our driver Serhat was very skillful, negotiating some tricky roads at time. On the whole though the road network in Turkiye is excellent and the drives between places not too long with enough comfort breaks in between. There were some 'extras' which did not appear in the itinerary like a visit to a salt mine and an archeology site which was much appreciated. The hotels were clean and comfortable with lots of character (unlike international chain hotels). Don't expect tissues in hotel rooms though! If we had to make any negative comments, it would be the unvaried food of kebabs and yet more kebabs - but then eating food not normally featured in one's diet at home is kind of the point of travelling. (not sure what vegans would have eaten!) Suberbly organised and a realisation of a life time dream to visit Ani, Mt Nemrut, Akdamar. Tip for ladies - toilets in the first part of the tour are only of the Turkish variety (not the hotels rooms though!) but generally they were clean. Check all the cubicles though, sometimes there's a Western toilet there. Also use the disabled loo as an option if available

I think it was the best holiday of my life. As someone who has wanted to come to the Black Sea for years, it was a good chance for me to choose Sunnova Travel. I think the most important feature that distinguishes this tour from others is that they are both so professional and so friendly. I learned so much about the history, culture and nature of the Black Sea from Mr. Muhammet and Veysel that it was quite fascinating for me. The places in our program were carefully selected and moreover, they made optional changes to the places we might like, allowing us to get the most out of our holiday. In addition, it was as if we were on holiday with our friends. I felt like I was gone. I thank them very much for this beautiful holiday, it is great to see people doing their job with so much care and love. I happily recommend it to all my friends and close circle. Our small group tour turned out to be a private tour for the two of us, at no extra cost, due to a cancelation. This made our tour more flexible and easy-going. Our guide was very polite and helpful, and always offered us options if weather intervened in planned activities. Our day at the Sumela Monastery stood out as a major highlight of the tour. The drive up to the Rize Tea Plantations was also spectacular and interesting.

A well planned tour for a family of 10 from Malaysia over 6 nights . Our tour guide Veysel and Driver Demir were professional, resourceful , attentive and kind. The manager Mr Alican was excellent and we particularly enjoyed the visit to his family village with his parents. Hospitality and memories throughout were fantastic. Simply wonderful

The Black Sea Region of Turkey is simply stunning! This tour gives you the opportunity to see and experience the hidden gems of this area that you wouldn't be able to find on your own. I was able to take this tour as a private tour and Alican was extremely helpful in putting together a tour that suited me and all of the places I wanted to see. Even once I was on the tour, they were extremely flexible and were very happy to change the schedule to suit me. One of the absolute highlights of my trip wasn't even on the original itinerary - I was welcomed into Alican and Oguzhan's (my driver) family home for a village experience that I will never forget. This family has a heart and soul of pure GOLD! I was humbled by their kindness and generosity. My guide Veysel also took me to his village to see his family and pick hazelnuts and fruit from his own garden! His generosity and care for me throughout this tour was heartwarming. I am very grateful to have been able to tour the Black Sea Region with this company and to learn all about the Turkish culture! Please make sure you have the Pokut visit included in your Black Sea Itinerary! This is an absolute MUST SEE! I had been planning this trip to the Black Sea and Eastern Turkey for a year and it lived up to almost all my expectations. I have been to Turkey many times but never to this part of the country. The Black Sea highlight was of course the Sumela Monastery at Trabzon. But the ultimate goal was Mesopotamia, the cradle of civilization. Turkey is a country of myriad layers of civilization and history and we saw tons of it: prehistoric, Urathian, Roman ruins and mosAics, Syriac monasteries, Selcuk tombs, medieval bridges and current-day bazaars. But Turkey is also a gloriously beautiful country, hills, orchards (pistachios), fields and mountains, not least Mount Ararat and Mount Nemrud with the remarkable tomb of Antioch I. The tour was extremely well organized. Driver Orhan was a constant and reassuring presence and Ören, our young but extremely knowledgeable guide, was a great travel companion. There were a few hotel glitches but these paled in comparison with their general good and kindly management . I definitely recommend this trip but keep in mind that it requires a good deal of energy. As currently organized there are hotel changes every day but one so at the end I was quite tired.

This, the dream of a lifetime, was an astonishing tour, the guide, driver and company owner showing Turkey at its best. I'd give it 5 stars except for some untidy communication which slightly marred the experience. But thoroughly recommend to anyone curious about this very special region.
