⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Amazing Rowing Experience on the River Cam!What a fantastic experience! A huge thank you to Omar and Cambridge Rowing Experience for organising such a brilliant afternoon for a group of us Cambourne dads.For most of us, rowing was something completely new, but Omar made everyone feel welcome and comfortable from the start. Everything was explained clearly and with plenty of humour, and it didn’t take long before we were out on the River Cam trying to row together — with varying degrees of success! 😂🚣‍♂️What I particularly loved was that you really don’t need any previous rowing experience or a certain level of fitness to enjoy it. Omar creates a relaxed and encouraging atmosphere where everyone feels comfortable having a go.It was a perfect combination of learning something new, being active, spending time with friends and having plenty of laughs along the way. Experiencing Cambridge and the River Cam from a rowing boat also gives you a completely different perspective.Omar’s passion for rowing is obvious, and he genuinely wants everyone to enjoy the experience. He was patient, knowledgeable and great fun throughout.I would highly recommend Cambridge Rowing Experience to anyone looking for something different to do with a group of friends. We had a brilliant time and came away with some great memories — although I suspect a few of us will be discovering some new muscles tomorrow morning! 😂Thanks again, Omar. As a beginner I didn’t know what to expect but from the start Thea and Arthur made us feel very welcome. They were very thorough with the training and checks and excellent at going over instructions so we all felt very safe and confident in their hands. With eight of us in the boat it was a team effort and Thea was fabulous as the cox giving us instructions, lots of praise & teaching us new speeds and how to turn the boat around. Arthur followed us on the bike and told us from the river bank how we could get better, taking pictures and shouting words of encouragement.I thoroughly enjoyed myself and loved gliding up the River Cam. I would really recommend this three hour course to anyone wanting to experience rowing. It was very good value and the crew very competent and professional.

Great to have the opportunity to learn some basic sailing skills whilst having exclusive use - lovely couple of hours and free parking available at the hotel, we stopped after for a coffee - lovely views from the garden

It doesn't get much better than this, my husband and I spent a perfect afternoon sailing with John. This is our second trip , and was definitely the highlight of our week in the lakes. John is a great host, he instils the confidence you need to take the wheel of his beautiful boat, together with his knowledge of sailing, the local area, combine that with his talents in the galley, it's a perfect experience

This was an excellent 4 hour private sailing and learning experience on Lake Windermere. Captain John and his boat gave us a spectacular sail and history talk around the middle section of the lake, and a great luncheon freshly made and served in his spacious cabin. While sailing, you’re in fresh air; bring rain coat and pants in case. We had showers then sun drying us out, and both were fine. Our friends got to sail the boat a bit, and John was happy to have our youngest sailor, 13 years, help him with the ropes and sails. I highly recommend this experience.

It was wonderful. John was very thoughtful, knowledgeable and allowed my husband to be at the helm the entire voyage. It was a beautiful day and great way to celebrate a birthday surprise.

Thank you John for memories of a life time. We had a wonderful time as a family on your beautiful yacht. Everyone had a go at steering and we loved being handson on the deck. Thanks for all the interesting information about the lake and being a fantastic host. It was a five star experience that we would recommend to anyone.

I cannot recommend this experience highly enough. It’s rare to find a river like the Cam and a place like Cambridge Rowing Experience where anyone have the opportunity to be safely on the river in a boat just over an hour after arriving - even with zero experience. The river is calm and shallow. This area is uniquely positioned, so do not miss this opportunity. For visiting rowers, this is also a fun way to get on the water.

The entire experience was thoughtfully designed to very approachable, not at all intimidating to someone with no familiarity with boats or rowing clubs. Omar walked us through each step, from erg machines to being on the water, with so much calm and patience, making it easy to enjoy every moment. With his guidance, rowing on the River Cam felt amazing!

Family of 4 (2 adults, 2 kids) - 10.30am sail.I booked this trip as a surprise 50th birthday gift for my husband. He likes boats (wishes he had one) and it was simply fantastic.Husband had no idea what the surprise was until we arrived at the Marina, where we were greeted by John. A huge part of what makes this experience really great is John himself, super passionate about sailing, very knowledgeable about the local area, and overall great host. All of us had the opportunity to steer, and he made sure all of us got involved on the day and we also learnt a lot about Windermere and the boats. The food was great, we loved the homemade chutney which was absolutely delicious, and finished with tea and cake.Must admit, I was a little worried that the kids would get bored with it being 3 hours but it was the right amount of time to sail, enjoy, eat, and chill. Worth every penny. My daughter commented afterwards as she was impressed that he remembered all our names and he made a special mention about my husband’s 50th, it’s these little touches that make it memorable!At the end of the trip (around 1.30pm), we did walk around Windermere for a short while, and it was so busy, queues everywhere you turn, so we were so relieved that we were able to enjoy the sail without the crowds.I would highly recommend this experience, especially if you’re looking for something unique and special.Thank you, John.

A nice way to spend 2 hours. Weather conditions meant it was a mix of sailing and motoring but we enjoyed the trip and would recommend it to others.

Absolutely fantastic time with John, the perfect host. A very knowledgeable entertaining person who made both lunch sail and dine and a sail around the lake for the whole family the day afterwards a perfect experience for my husband’s 70th birthday treat. Thanks again John.

My wife and I had a fantastic time sailing today, thanks to the expertise and easygoing guidance of John. From the moment we stepped aboard, we felt safe, relaxed, and in great hands.John’s knowledge of sailing and the lake was spot on – informative, engaging, and always delivered with a smile. We both had the chance to steer the boat (which was a thrill!), and we always kept an eye out for those elusive red buoys!There was a lovely balance of fun and calm, with time to enjoy a brew while soaking up the sun. The scenery was breathtaking, the boat was in great condition, and we felt totally at ease throughout. It was just the right mix of adventure and relaxation.Whether you’re brand new to sailing or just fancy a memorable day out, we couldn’t recommend this experience more highly. We had a great afternoon with John! He literally showed us the ropes of sailing and was an excellent guide! He was very friendly and genuinely interested in getting to know us. I highly recommend an outing with him!! 5+ stars!!
