I booked with Francesco as I wanted to see more of the agricultural region outside of Bologna itself, from a local who knew the area well. Francesco did not disappoint. We visited mediaeval villages, vineyards and ravines, and sunflower fields. He is able to share stunning locations he has personally discovered, precisely when the light is best.He is a great photographer, but also great company. Francesco shared knowledge of the local food, history, and personal experiences from Bologna. Even if you are only slightly interested in photography, this is a great way to see what the region is about outside of the city itself. Highly recommend.Also, make sure you ask to visit his favourite gelato place.

Highly recommend workshops with Francesco. Excellent experience. He's extremely knowledgeable about the area and where/when to get the best light. Also flexible with timing. Hope to do another workshop with him in the future.

We had a wonderful afternoon with Francesco! He took us to so many amazing spots around the Bologna hills to photograph and we were blown away by the beauty and splendour of the area! He knew exactly where to go to get the perfect light for our photos. I am still learning the ins and outs of my camera and he was very patient while I got my shot! It was an awesome day all thanks to him!

We are 4 amateur photographers and had the pleasure to explore the region around Bologna with Francesco Fanti. He personally picked us up at the hotel in the city center and also brought us back. He chose the time frame so that we had great lighting moods and could also photograph a dreamlike sunset from a great vantage point. Francesco’s passion for photography and in-depth knowledge of the region made the tour unforgettable. Francesco took us to a number of different locations in the "Ravines" area between Bologna and Brisighella. His knowledge of the area allowed us to go to places the "average tourist" could never find. The locations offered various compositional possibilities. Finally, at our next to last spot, the clouds parted and allowed beautiful sunlight to shine on the scene. Incredibly, a mix of fog and light danced in the valley below making for a "life list" photo experience. The sunset provided an array of colors as it reflected off the clouds above. Lastly, a distant night view of San Luca under artificial lighting.

Francesco Fanti provides an incredibly good photography experience in Bologna and environs. We write this as serious amateur to semi-professional photographers with well over 40 years experience. Francesco knows the area and took us places we'd never know to go on own. Our time together was totally about us. He made sure the places he took us worked for us. He was patient with us as we worked the scene. He was very accommodating of our needs.Francesco is very knowledgeable about photography which would enable him to help beginners who are looking for more than the typical tourist snap shots. We was able to help us with setting up for a very contrasty shot.We make a practice of hiring photographers like him in cities that we do not know. We found Francesco to be among the best of the local photographers we've hired. We highly recommend him for anyone who wants to bring home good photographs from their vacation. He has a keen eye for what would make a good photograph and the technical knowledge to make the photograph come to life. Francesco provides an incredible value for his fee.

I went to Bologna to photograph people in the water, I arrived in Bologna 3 days before the start of work, after getting to know the city I was curious to know the surroundings and the landscapes that characterize this region, I consulted Cool Destinations with the hope of finding a guide with knowledge of the region, I came across the service provided by Francesco, I read and reread and thought, why not someone who loves photography like me and who knows the most beautiful landscapes well. A time was proposed to me, the objective was to provide me with a beautiful sunset if the weather conditions allowed it, I had no availability due to other commitments and I suggested, instead of sunset why not sunrise. To my surprise he accepted. It was a few hours well spent, good company, good conversation and a friend with the same passion. Life has these surprises

This was a brilliant tour, really well thought out, organised and tailored to suit me! Francesco was great, he was very knowledgable in photography and of the surrounding areas. What a treat my husband and I had. Francesco drove us to fabulous locations and finished the evening off with a locally made sparking wine watching the sunset. (the bonus for me, it was my birthday). Before the trip, Francesco and I had a video call to find out exactly what we wanted to get out of the tour. For my husband and I, it was a birthday gift to me, being the photographer enthusiast and Italian obsessor. So pretty much anything would have been great.... HOWEVER this surpassed all expectations, the amount of details and time management was superb! Not only was Francesco super friendly and easy to talk to, he made us feel as ease whilst passengers in his vehicle. This tour will be suitable for beginners, intermediates and experienced photographers ( and their non photo interested companions. My husband who is not a photographer had a brilliant day). Francesco is a really nice man and I highly recommend this tour! Have FUN!

Our trip to Bologna would not have been as interesting without this tour. Our guide, Francesco was amazing. His knowledge of Bologna and the surrounding areas was impressive and he took us to some amazingly beautiful locations to photograph. This tour was the highlight of our time in Bologna.
