Homer Travel Guides (Updated September 2026)

Coldwater was an excellent local tour operator in Homer! They were timely, their boat was top-notch and they knew where the whales and otters were! We made at 20 minute run across the Bay saw a humpback whale full breach out of the water TWICE, and then followed around 4 whales, watching the feed and tails out of the water, went to see a bunch of others and then 20 minutes back, right on time. They even dropped us at a convenient location for us to get back on our ship.

Great crew. Took us to where the action was. If you sit outside while moving fast, wear rain gear to keep your clothes and gear dry.

Rain and wind didn't deter all 4 of us from an excellent time, lived in the area for 50 years and have never been out there, it was magical! Our guide was top notch!

Loved loved loved this. Made the 6 hour drive fly by. We referred to the narrator as Alas-Ken!

This was a wonderful thing to do. The captain and the tour guide were so informed in the many gulls and birds we saw. We saw so many otters, seals, and even sea lions. It was a fun experience.

We had a great experience and, although at the end of the season, we saw many bears in the river and get a pretty sunny day. Flying in a float plane was itself an experience...the view were incredible.

We have only used the audio tour from Anchorage to Soldatna and it has been fabulous so far! We will use it to go to Seward and also to Homer. Very educational and makes the long drive feel shorter.

Lots of bears and a very seculed place, only a handful of people. Jake knew a lot about the area and the best place to look. Boat ride a little rough at the start.

The trip from start to finish was well organized, well equipped, and flawlessly executed. We had excellent lunch and snack options. Jonathan is personable and very tuned into his clients. This was a very memorable experience—and well documented.

Had a great experience on this cruise seeing otters, puffins, bald eagles, harbor seals, and lots of different species of birds! I went by myself while my husband was halibut fishing and felt very included in the group. I would book again if I were to come back and would highly recommend to others!

Cory and Brianna were so nice, we were lucky we found them (through the Cool Destinations travel site). Friendly, informative, and great at making it seem like traveling in a small plane to see hungry bears up close was nothing to be nervous about. Worth every penny! Thank you!

1st experience flying in a seaplane!! I loved it. Only one bear at the falls so I wad disappointed but 1 is better than zero

Excellent tour. Maddie was enthusiastic and knowledgeable. The 2 hour tour was the perfect length to see the water, land, and lots of wildlife.
