The Cemetery Church of All Saints with the Ossuary

Discover this unique chapel decorated with human bones. Built in the 14th century as part of a Cistercian monastery, it houses the remains of about 40,000 people. After the cemetery was abolished in the late 15th century, a Sedlec monk arranged the bones into large pyramids in 1511. The chapel's striking decorations are believed to be designed by renowned architect J. B. Santini.

The Cathedral of Assumption

Corpus Christi Chapel

Visit the Corpus Christi Chapel, a unique Gothic structure established as a charnel—a two-story cemetery chapel with an ossuary—likely built even before construction began on the neighboring St. Barbara’s Cathedral. The lower floor served as a space for the reverent storage of bones, while the upper level was intended for services honoring the deceased. It’s unclear if the upper floor was ever fully completed, as the chapel gradually lost significance with the completion of St. Barbara’s Cathedral.
