Palladian Day Tour from Vicenza. The day with Manuel was a very rich experience packed with information. We were picked up from our apartment with our bags. Manuel tailored the tour to suit our interests of art and architecture and what we had already seen of Palladio’s architecture the day before, taking into consideration the time constraints we had. Being taken around in the van enabled us to see villas outside of Vicenza. Manuel kindly dropped us off at Venice via a wonderful villa close to that city. He shared his passion for Palladio and some of his vast knowledge of Italian culture. He explained the world view of the Renaissance, context of ideas and politics of the clients and how innovative Palladio’s architecture was. Highly recommended!

This was a beautifully organised private tour by the Director of Palladian Routes, Manuel Gazzola. We spent a day exploring Palladio’s buildings in the countryside and in Vicenza, talking all things architecture and enjoying - and much benefiting from - Manuel’s erudition and general good company. We feel the tours offered by Palladian Routes would benefit anyone, from beginner to expert and are particularly valuable in the access they afford to otherwise inaccessible sites.

Yeah, great. It was 40 degrees in Verona but Frenk did his best to stay in the shade and therefore it was fine to do. With the de vr glasses he shows what it used to look like. WOW, we went back in time for a moment, 2000 years. Special. Frenk is enthusiastic, kind and makes you feel and show how special the Arena is.

Our guided tour of the Verona Arena with Virtual Reality was definitely a highlight. From the moment we met our guide, Frenk, we knew we were in for something special. Due to some initial planning issues, he generously offered us the complete tour for only the cost of the Arena entrance tickets, which was incredibly kind and much appreciated.Frenk was a great guide: knowledgeable, passionate, super friendly, and genuinely funny. He brought the history of the Arena to life with fascinating stories and engaging explanations.The VR component takes this tour to another level. Standing inside the ancient amphitheater while seeing it reconstructed in Roman glory is simply super cool. The immersive visuals made it easy to imagine the crowds, the spectacles, and even what it must have felt like to be a gladiator preparing to enter the arena. It transforms a historic monument into a living piece of history.What makes this experience truly stand out is the combination of expert storytelling and technology. It's not just another sightseeing tour — it's a unique journey through time that allows you to explore the Arena far beyond the ordinary visitor experience.If you're visiting Verona and want something memorable, immersive, and different, this is your tour. We thoroughly enjoyed this tour. Manuel is very knowledgeable and passionate about his subject, as well as being a considerate tour guide and host for the day. Unlike many guides who have a set ‘spiel’ and find it difficult to waiver, Manuel tapped into and expanded upon our own interests – architecture and Reformation history. We had plenty of time in each venue and still managed to cover everything. With Manuel we were able to visit inside Villa Rotonda out of season, which was a highlight. As an architect, I would like to add my gratitude to my wife’s comments above. The experience that Manuel gave us was exceptional. From his surprise unveiling of Villa Rotunda as we approached it, to the privilege of access to the Villa itself ‘in winter’ and to his subsequent tour of so many Palladian Buildings (some of which I was not aware of) Manuel presented his Palladian Routes Tour with the understanding of an architect, the knowledge of an academic and the passion of an Italian. His detailed knowledge of not only Palladio and his buildings, but also of relevant historical circumstances and the context of the Reformation and Renaissance gave us an exceptional experience. Alessandro was a great guide as new visitors to the city. He made great efforts to make sure we saw key sights and historic buildings with interesting background and history as well as giving us lots of tips for food and drink during our stay. Very friendly, welcoming and knowledgeable about his lovely city. Would happily recommend him as a guide.

Maria Pia had to change our tour time due to an unexpected traffic accident to a colleague. But she accommodated us with an earlier time. The colleague hopefully will make a full recovery. Maria Pia took account that we were a mixed aged group of 5 people from 80 to 11! So she made it interesting for the teenagers and the 11 year old and even the old cynic!! We all learnt something new during our walk around Verona. I would recommend Maria Pia, for her warm fun approach to people and her informative tour. But be aware that the Kick Start Local Tour isn’t highlights of Verona, as stated, but a minor tour of Verona and Maria Pia did text me before hand to ask if that is what we wanted. Of course, it wasn’t. We wanted highlights and that is what she gave us, after my request. For that I’m very grateful.

A most interesting tour of the arena with Francesco, who engaged us with his enthusiastic explanation of the history and building methods. This was enhanced with VR images of the arena showing how it would have looked in Roman times, and how it would appear if still intact in today's setting. Thank you for an excellent experience.

We took the tour over Easter weekend and had a great time. Frank was a brilliant guide - very knowledgeable about the Arena and also a very entertaining storyteller! My son is a wheelchair user and this tour is completely accessible for those with reduced mobility. The VR headsets added another level to the overall experience. A really great guided tour, which I would definitely recommend.

Frank was a great guide for me and my daughter (11 years old)! Virtual reality is a unique gem, one that makes you say “wow”, but beyond that, the guide was generous with details, notions and curiosities, told in a way that suits both me and my daughter. Definitely recommended.

Really appreciated Francesco’s positive energy (warning: he’s a high-fiver :-), knowledge and guidance getting into the Arena (which by itself is maybe not 5/5 interesting and while the VR headsets also are not 5/5 awesome, combined with Francesco’s commentary they made the Arena experience well worth it. Went with teenage daughter.
