Top Riga Hiking & Camping

It was a great trip with Rolands, he picked us up in Riga. We saw many different areas, forests, lakes, river fooding and the great Baltic beach. His background is amazing, he was explaining everything. During the day we also have had a great picnic, made by his wife. Thank you again for this!!!

We booked two private tours from Riga in consecutive days: one to Kemeri and one to Gauja. Both are highly recommended, if you wish to go out of Riga and experience some of Latvia’s wonderful national parks but don’t have much time. The organisation was perfect and we felt in safe and capable hands at all moments. Our guide, Rolandts, is very knowledgeable about the various ecosystems we visited and a passionate environmentalist. He is a great conversionalist and fun to be with. We learnt a lot about Latvia’s history and culture from him.

It was 10/10. I want to do it again whenever I’m back in Latvia. Absolutely loved it. Great atmosphere, great sites, perfectly chosen hiking trail.

Super great experience hiking in Sigulda. There will be some stairs to climb, but the guide ensured a great pace and as many breaks as needed. Our guide was super pleasant and we had a lovely day. Remember insect repellent - there was a ton of mosquitoes in the forest.

We would highly recommend this trip, great opportunity to immerse yourself in Latvian nature. Fantastic guided walk through tall pine trees around beautiful lakes, over sand dunes to an amazing unspoilt beach. Also very informative guide conveying great knowledge of the surrounding area and Latvian culture.

Today I had a full day tour with Rolands, and I couldn't have asked for a better experience! Rolands’ extensive knowledge of the area, its plants, animals, and history was truely impressive. His passion for conservation and nature made the tour not only informative but incredibly enjoyable.I'm seriously considering returning to Latvia just to take another one of his tours, especially to explore the west coast. We recently finished a 10-day self-driving tour of the Baltic's and wanted to have an active trip whilst not missing out on all the cultural highlights of the region. Valdis, the owner of Baltic Nature Travel was very responsive and organized a trip that included kayaking, long distance bicycle riding, hiking in different forests, cooking activities, cultural highlights, hot-air balloon riding, etc-- all in a matter of 10 days and customized the trip to our liking. We were very satisfied with his responsiveness to our needs and his ability to stay ahead and plan various activities appropriately. Just to give you one example of Valdis's ability to think ahead: in one of the hotels, they have very limited parking. On his own initiative, Valdis made a to call to the hotel and reserved a parking spot for us for the one night that we were going to stay at that hotel. It helped out a lot, as we had to leave very early in the morning. There are other numerous examples where he was available to answer questions and help us as necessary, both before and during the trip. He is an excellent guide, calm and collected and his team of guides around the region were quite knowledgeable and fluent. The accommodation for the trip were quite good and and they can be easily adjusted based on your budget. I highly recommend his touring company for your Baltic travel experience and would like to add that as a person he's very likable and easy-going.

We had a nice hiking experience with Valdis as a friendly and knowledgeable guide. The walks we had was from about 10 – 16 km per day, but the distance will be adjusted according to the ability of those participating. We enjoyed day 3 & 4 with a more “jungle feeling”. In total it was a very pleasant experience, good for us “city-people” wanting to get away from all the people. Nice accommodations.

We had a great day with our tour guide Rolands, whose great knowledge about the park, its different ecosystems and nature and species in general made this trip absolutely worthwhile. He showed us four different spots in the park - the bog, the wetlands, the lagoon and the sea - and explained the differences in a way that was easy to understand for people who are not conservation biologists like him. The cream on the cake was his knowledge about his country, its history and his openness to engage in virtually any topic. Highly recommended.

Had a lot of fun on our day out with our guide Rolands. He was full of knowledge and really accommodating. He also took great pictures of us at each place we visited. Would greatly recommend !

This is a really beautiful hike and can be customized based on what activities you would like to do. It does involve some climbing stairs but is such a beautiful part of Latvia. Janis told us a lot about the country and the area as well as educating is about the natural parts of the forest. It is definitely worth getting out of Riga and seeing some of the natural beauty. The communication was great and the transport was easy and Janis customized the trip based on what we were interested in along the way. We also did the cable car to get a great view.

An exciting visit! We were able to walk through the forests of the Gaujas National Park, learning in depth about the nature of the place, some natural caves and the river. Some beautiful views! We got to know Sigulda and visited the castle and the museum. Ronalds was a fantastic guide! He explained to us in detail how the environment has changed and how they maintain the forests. Also about the history of the place. He took us to eat at a very good restaurant, where we tasted typical, well-made dishes. Although the visit is in English, Ronalds also speaks a little Spanish, so there were no problems understanding each other. He was very attentive and fun, he cared about us at all times and took many photos of us🤗 We liked it a lot and we recommend it to all those who want to know more than just the city of Riga.

A perfect series of daily hiking tours and town walkarounds. I especially was amused by the jungle-like forests and friendly conversations along the way. Everything was perfectly planned and organized, I definitely recommend, worth thousand-times more than simply visiting cities in a rush.
