Wonderful hike around the town with Silvia who is an incredibly knowledgeable guide. LOVED this tour. We were so full after a huge homemade lunch with Sivia and Antonio's honey, wine, lemonade, cheeses and olive oil.

The 4x4 gave us the opportunity to travel amazing back roads around Pinhao supported by excellent knowledge by our driver Nuno.

This is one of the best experiences I’ve had in Portugal. Nuno was our guide and was absolutely wonderful. He grew up in this area and has so much knowledge about the history, landscape, and current state of affairs. We learned so much and saw areas we would bet have access to on our own. Lunch was delicious and his meal recommendations were spot on. Highly recommend, and will specifically request Nuno if I am back in this region.

We had a fantastic day with Nuno! His English was excellent; his knowledge of the history of Portugal and the Douro Valley was incredible. He was very helpful on some of the more challenging parts of the ride. The vistas and views were incredible - as were the culinary and cultural experiences. Highly recommend without any hesitation!

My sister and I had the privilege of taking a private guided tour with Antonio. The beauty of the terrain was enhanced by Antonio's knowledge and passion for the area. It was a moderate hike with incredible views and engaging conversation. The lunch was timed impeccably to align with a break from hiking. If I am ever in the area, I will be sure to book another experience with Antonio as he has such warm energy.

This was an amazing day biking through vineyards, quaint villages and seeing the Portuguese landscape and people of the Duoro River. We started the morning off at a traditional bakery, followed by a private tour of a local winery and tasting! Enjoyed an excellent lunch of local fare and a boat trip down the Duoro to finish our day off. Nuno, our guide knew the area well as he grew up and is raising his family in the area. Really really a special trip that could not have been seen from a car or bus! We learned so much and feel connected.

Don't hesitate to book with Douro Walks - our experience was absolutely unforgettable and one of our favorites of the trip. From the second we met Antonio and his lovely wife Sylvia, we felt completely welcomed and cared for as if we were with close friends.Antonio picked us up and took us around his village and the surrounding vineyards, directing us to eat fresh fruits off trees along the way and taking us to local areas we wouldn't have had exposure to otherwise. He's very knowledgeable about Portugal, the Douro Valley, fruits, veggies, and of course grapes & wine, and is very easy and fun to talk to. He shared stories about his family and Douro throughout the walk, and I left the experience much more knowledgeable about the culture.His wife Sylvia cooked and joined us for an amazing lunch to end the tour. The food and wine were delicious and fresh, and both of them were great company to eat with.We'll absolutely book another tour with Antonio & Sylvia next time we visit. Definitely a must do!

This was probably the best day we had in Portugal! The off roading on narrow old streets was super fun, the scenery was gorgeous. We learned a lot about Douro, the wine, and even about Portugal itself. We tasted many wines and had delicious food. Our guide, Vasco was wonderful.Highly recommend this tour.

This was a fabulous experience biking through the vineyard with lots of history, wine tasting and seeing the countryside. It was a full day with a Duoro boat ride for the last hour

Antonio was a great guide. He shared so much knowledge about the wineries, growing of the grapes and led us carefully through a rather strenuous hike. He was patient and thoughtful. when we needed a rest, he would tell us more about the area, the plants and the culture. The scenery was gorgeous even for late winter. We were fortunate that the recent rains had subsided. If we come back to the area we would have António take us to more remote places and wineries. A highlight was the lunch! It was delicious and primarily sourced from his family farm (olive oil, wine, honey, Port) plus homemade salad and cake. We loved it!

This is the absolutely best way to spend a day in Douro Valley. This is my second time taking this tour and both times with Vasco and he is amazing! The sites, the stories, the food, and of course, the wine all made for an absolutely fantastic day. Well worth it, and you won’t regret it.

This tour is definitely worth the money! Our guide Vasco was not only accommodating but also incredibly informative and entertaining. We loved the boat trip, the bike ride through the charming town of Favaios and surrounding area, the quick stop at the local bakery, and the wine tour at the cooperative. Lunch was fantastic—a must-visit spot near the railroad with amazing views. An unforgettable experience and absolutely worth every penny!

Excellent hike with stunning views of the valley. Antonio makes everyone feel at ease and provides much information on the area, the vegetation, the animals, and the history of the region. The homemade lunch was special. This hike is highly recommended.

This was an amazing day guided by Joao & Vasco. Not for the faint hearted - but such fun! Organised & executed to perfection - we felt completely at ease during the boat trip (fab), the 4x4 travel on unmetaled tracks and a wonderful waterside Portuguese lunch in the middle of the day. The afternoon wine tour of the Cooperative was definitely best of the 3 we have done - Maria was so knowledgeable.

My wife and I had a spectacular time on this private tour of the Douro Valley Region. I say "spectacular" for a multitude of reasons. First, the many-angled views of the vineyards, river and mountains were stunning. We covered many miles of hidden and back-land routes offering a perspective not seen by many. Second, our guide Nuno was very knowledgeable, engaging and responsible. His attention was on us (and the narrow roadways, of course) throughout the day. He provided interesting and personalized stories for all of the sites and stops we visited along the way. Next, our lunch was incredible, including a variety of fish, meats, cheeses and vegetables. The portions were more than we could eat and the entire meal was served in a beautiful venue along the river. The wine production tour and tasting added a wonderful ending to our day. We skipped the mid-day river cruise as we had taken a similar cruise earlier in the week. Nuno was extremely flexible extending our tour to include other sites instead. If booking this tour, be sure to ask for Nuno. He added so much to the experience. Terry

Wow!!! What an amazing day we had with Nuno Rodrigues of Grapeland Adventure and Tourism on the 4x4 Off Beaten Track excursion through the cliff side vineyards of the Douro Valley. It was a surreal day, sailing on the Douro, winding through the amazing valleys, climbing dirt paths in our 4x4 to the tops of the majestic vineyards. Nuno was a joy to spend the day with!! We shared a special lunch at a local restaurant , visited his village bakery and loved learning all about the proud history and culture of his homeland, and got stunning photographs! It was a perfect day!! A heartfelt thank you Nuno! It was a magical day!
