Three friends and I were on a Virgin Cruise (Iceland/Greenland/NE Canada) and decided to take a tour off the set agenda for the Virgin listed land tours when we docked in St. John’s, Newfoundland. After reading the reviews for this tour I was excited. Little did I know this hike would far exceed my expectations and end up being my favorite land excursion of the entire trip. Deneen is a local and was an excellent tour lead. She is friendly, professional, interesting, and a lovely person. We learned so much about St. John’s and the entire region including key historical events. We sampled the wild blueberries growing along our trail and learned a lot about the local vegetation. The landscape and views will completely blow your mind. We really enjoyed this private tour and highly recommend it. Thank you Deneen and George. Hope to see you again.

Small tour with only 4 people. The tour guide, William was very amiable, and was obviously keen to help and assist his group. He managed the pace of the tour well and had a good local knowledge. No time restraint therefore no rush. Well worth the booking.

My husband and I used this walking tour during a recent cruise stop in St. John’s. We have used various walking tours in the past and we found this app and narration both to be well- done. The app is easy to use and the tutorial was super helpful. We downloaded everything the night before and could start anytime. Some other walking tours expire in 24-hours, but not with this company. The auto-start narration with GPS worked most of the time. Mine had a problem repeating the previous talk at a few stops, but it was easy to make it change to the right one.The stops were interesting and the tour went in a logical order, getting up to higher elevation early and then working down toward the harbor. I saw in another review someone commented about going to the “rough part of town” due to some unhoused people in tents making them nervous. We saw the same thing, but it was literally just two tents in a park near “The Room” museum. It was not at all unsafe or “dodgey.” If being in the vicinity of unhoused people is for some reason frightening to you, just skip walking to that place. The Rooms Museum was the “turn around” point at the upper part of the tour. If you decided to skip it you would save some steps.At one point there was an optional side trip of 800 meters on Water street that we decided to skip. I regretted it later because the post office was right there and I needed something from the post office.

A must-do to discover St. John's
We spent a whole day with Axel, a walking tour of downtown St. John's in the morning, then a visit to Signal Hill, Cape Spear, and Quidi Vidi in the afternoon. We learned so much about St. John's but also about Newfoundland, its history, and its customs. A happy mix of historical, scientific, and cultural information. Axel is an excellent, very well-prepared guide whose tour is well-structured (even including a playlist to listen to during our car trips between the different attractions!). He was able to meet our expectations as well as those of our boys (17 and 19 years old). We recommend his services without any hesitation.
