Top Merida Seasonal Events

I wasn’t sure if Chichén Itzá would live up to the hype, but it totally did. Going with a certified guide made it so much more interesting because you actually understand what you’re looking at instead of just taking photos. The cenote was beautiful, the traditional lunch was delicious, and the whole day was really well organized. It ended up being one of my favorite days in Mexico.

Come early to Chichen Itza. Low season is more pleasant. Izamal is beautiful. The Cenote was not that interesting. Our guide Sergio Gonzalez (Merida Experirnces) was knowledgeable and fun.

We decided to book this private tour because we wanted a personalized experience, and it was absolutely the right decision. Eric helped us design our itinerary, and it couldn’t have turned out better. We arrived at Chichén Itzá before the heat and had the best guide inside the ruins. Later, we were taken to have lunch at the home of a Mayan family—the food was spectacular. The cenote Eric chose for us was also incredible—there was no one else there, and it was breathtakingly beautiful. In Izamal, Eric took us to a local artisan workshop, and we had a guided tour of this charming town.Highly recommended!!

It was a very complete day. We left quite early, which was really appreciated because we arrived at the ruins before most people and it wasn’t too hot yet. Lunch, although at a somewhat touristy spot, was honestly very good and better than we expected. The cenote was truly beautiful, and the town of Izamal is charming. On top of that, we had the advantage of having Eric just for ourselves and we learned a lot about Yucatán and Mexico in general. Plus, he’s a great guy and speaks excellent English.

We weren’t quite sure we booked this tour as we saw many similar ones but we liked that it already includes lunch, cenote and federal entrance. We were very happy with this ride, it was a very small group (4 people) and we were super comfortable in the van, each place had enough time to visit and meet calmly and also we got two big surprises: The cenote was very nice and very private and the food was spectacular!! I thought they'd take us to the typical generic restaurant but we ended up going with a lady who sells piglet and suckling pig and it was delicious. Our guide Sergio, it was amazing. The kindest young man you can imagine and we learned a lot from him.

Very complete and authentic tour We were picked up very early in the morning, which was perfect because we arrived in Chichen Itza before the ticket offices opened. Starting the day so early was totally worth it: when we were leaving the site, there were already so many people who could barely walk. The food in the village was delicious, with authentic flavors and very well prepared. The cenote was one of the most special points of the day: it is on the property of a local family and we had it practically just for ourselves. It is amazing that such a beautiful place is not full of tourists. We finished the day in Izamal, where we walked through its yellow streets and Eric shared the history of the place and the convent. It was a great way to close the day. Thank you for everything, an experience I will definitely recommend!

Great value for the price. I chose this tour after comparing it with other similar activities, and when I did the math, the other options always ended up being more expensive. Eric’s tour includes the entrance to the cenote, the official entrance fee to Chichén Itzá, and also lunch—which, by the way, was amazing. The day was truly enjoyable, especially in the company of other travelers who became friends. The food was excellent, and the cenote we visited was private. During our visit to Chichén Itzá, we learned a lot. I truly recommend this tour.
