I recently had a fantastic experience exploring the Old Town with a guided tour, followed by a visit to a medieval-style restaurant with my friends. The tour itself was engaging and informative — our guide brought the history of the city to life with fascinating stories, hidden details, and a great sense of humor. Walking through the narrow streets and historic landmarks really set the mood for what came next.After the tour, we headed to a medieval restaurant, and it felt like stepping back in time. The atmosphere was immersive, with candlelight, rustic wooden interiors, and staff dressed in period-style clothing. The menu featured traditional dishes, and everything we tried was hearty and full of flavor. Eating with our hands and sharing platters made the experience even more authentic and fun.What made the evening special was the combination of learning and atmosphere — starting with the historical context from the tour and then continuing it through food and setting. It turned a simple dinner into a memorable cultural experience.I would definitely recommend this combination to anyone visiting the city. Beautiful view in a lovely setting, with great food ~ something different to do in Riga. From the old town, it’s a 40 min walk, made a bit slower by the thick snow we walked through! It was worth the walk.

Went with a group for a private Balsam tasing experience. The interior of the bar is beautiful, Medieval, clean and surprising in many ways. We entered the alchemist's cellar and were greeted by a wonderful young man who guided us through the experience. His knowledge of the English language, humour and timing were really good. There were so many layers to this experience and my group was so happy with everything. Plus, the Black Balsam tasted good too.

The Igloo was an unforgettable experience that turned a birthday event into something magical. The place is ideal for romantic dates, small celebrations, or just treating yourself. The panoramic view was the top of it all - like you could look at the city from above almost all the time. The extras like heart shaped baloons and candles are definitely worth it, if you are looking to impress your partner. They will be stunned!

We were the only ones on the tour. The Guide was good, quite funny and explained all about the Black Balsam. Balsam and the truffle were very nice. Bought some biscuits on the way out, which came in a nice gift box and bag.

The beautiful Art Nouveau architecture, charming streets, and rich history made this tour unforgettable. Our guide was fantastic, knowledgeable and personable.

Totally authentic of the Middle Ages, the waiters are wearing clothes from that time and the atmosphere and experience is complete. A place you must visit when you are in Riga. Super cozy

We were family and friends travelling to Riga - this tour was highlight of the whole trip. Thanks to guide Valentina for amazing tour. At the end of the evening we enjoyed delicious dinner, live music in authentic place we would never find ourselves.

Such an amazing place this cafe/chocolate shoppe, a wonderful collection of delicious chocolates, coffees and Balzam delivered in a charming, eclectic setting, it’s not to be missed.Special shout out to Richard (pronounced Rikard), perhaps the most enthusiastic, informative host / manager of a business I’ve ever had the pleasure to encounter, this man knows his stuff when it comes to all things chocolate and Balzam and presents his knowledge in such a genuine, considerate manner, that enthrals and entertains, Black Magic is a ‘must visit’ if you find yourself in the old city, highly recommended

We enjoyed our tour of Riga, although were surprised when the guide left us at the restaurant. She was very informative and we enjoyed the tour quite a bit. We had a taste of 2 levels of alcohol shots and then some Latvian foods hat were very good.
