We had a wonderful day with Gabriel our guide on our day trip to Soweto. Gabriel is a warm, thoughtful and knowledgeable guide who made our trip sparkle. We visited Nelson Mandela’s home and had lunch at a local restaurant serving typical South African food. We also experienced great street performances by different groups. Gabriel explained the history of how Soweto came to be and how it has changed over the years. We enjoyed having a beer in a local bar. We loved everything that we did but the most thought provoking and confronting part of our trip was the visit to Kliptown. I am so glad we went there, the people we met were so kind and welcoming and the children were gorgeous. Kliptown is the poorest part of Soweto and most tourists don’t go there. We saw how this community is working together to improve young people’s lives through creative industry. We highly recommend this trip to anyone who wants to gain an understanding of Soweto’s history and its people.

Perfect, Maweza was a very attentive guide and knows the region very well. I suggest bringing sunscreen and water!

A great tour of the Fordsburg neighbourhood of Joburg. A mix of so many cultures. Our guide Gilda knew all the tasty spots to stop and try delicious foods from all round the world. A really interesting part of the city.

Our guide, Ayanda, was a good communicator, very knowledgeable, and inspirational. We not only learned about street art but also about city history and society. At the end, Ayanda, who has a caring attitude, patiently showed us different recommendations for a lovely evening in Maboneng. This excellent, 3 hours and a half street art walking tour was certainly one of the highlights of our visit to Johannesburg. Highly recommended!

We had a wonderful tour with Mike! After our initial reservation was cancelled due to rain, Mike and Ayanda were so accommodating when rescheduling. This was such a fun and unique way to explore Joburg's neighborhoods and art. Plus, we learned a new skill! Highly recommend and will recommend to friends!

The 4 of us were the only ones on this full day tour with Gabriel who did an excellent job tailoring it to our expectations. Gabriel was very personable, friendly and knowledgeable enhancing our day even more. The Itinerary is an excellent one as are all the community based guides. We saw and learnt alot from the very sobering sites of Hector Pieterson Memorial; and Mandela’s House; to the amazingly athletic and joyful Zulu dancers. We made some great purchases from the very helpful and friendly roadside vendors; and enjoyed our local lunch; and brew. From the outset of our booking from downunder several months in advance Gilda was very helpful. Gilda has since ensured that our 40+ brand new running tops donations were well distributed, which we appreciated.

Soweto cultural walking tour was incredible. Our guide, Moweza, has so much knowledge and passion about the history and has beautiful connections with people living there, giving you a real experience and a glimpse into how life is in Soweto and the different areas people live in

We recently booked a half day tour. Was hoping for an authentic experience in Johannesburg, and that was exactly what we got. Our guide was Gabriel. He was knowledgeable and shared with us about his city and he was really passionate about it.We had a good time.

Loved the adventure trying new foods. Tried everything and was pleasantly surprised how much I loved it all. Thanks Gilda for exposing us to very different cultural foods.

Gilda, our guide, was fantastic! Very knowledgeable on the area, the food, the people. Was such an incredible evening.Note: if you do the experience on a Saturday, do the earlier time as the street art shops close at 2pm so we missed that part, which we would have loved to enjoy!

The City Skate Tour of Jo’burg was exceptional and a highlight of my first visit to Johannesburg. As an urban planner I love cities and am interested in how cities grow and change. The tour that Ayanda led included street art, history, architecture, urban planning and development, and politics. The ground level view provided by skateboarding (and some walking since I’m a newbie skater) really enabled you to gain a unique perspective. My 14 year old son who travels with his own skateboard just loved it. If you want a unique way to experience Johannesburg I highly recommend you book the 3-hour full tour you will not regret it!
