An amazing tour of Calakmul with Ka’an Expeditions! Lots of wildlife and history and our guide, Manuel, was wonderfully informative throughout the tour. One of the most important sites in Mayan history, so we are glad we had such an amazing guide!

It was a truly extraordinary experience. Mayu, our guide, accompanied us to discover the Calakmul jungle, telling us with great passion about the archaeology and history of the site, but also the flora and fauna that surround it. An immersive and fascinating experience, which allowed us to get to know Calakmul not only through its ruins, but also through the nature that has guarded them for centuries. Absolutely recommended!

It was a long day but well worth it. Our guide and driver Alfonso was very knowledgeable and we had lots of interesting discussions about the sites and also Mexica in general. This made the 4 hour car journey pass much more quickly. He was also an excellent driver - especially in heavy rain on our return. Our English speaking guide was also extremely informative.

We took the tour to Calakmul from Campeche. Then we toured the Rio Bec sites (Chicanna, Becan and Xpujil) with the subsequent visit to the 20th of November Community where you will visit some craft workshops (working with seeds, honey and wood). Then we took the transport from Xpujil to Campeche stopping at the site of Balamku. The 3 guides (Roberto in Calakmul, Ángel in Río Nec and Manuel in Balamku) very friendly and knowledgeable, especially of local fauna and flora. We stayed 2 nights at Casa Maran hotel in Xpujil which is clean but very basic. The rooms have no light and natural ventilation but are very spacious. The vehicles to go from Campeche to Xpujil very good, the only one but we put is that the driver in the transfer Xpujil / Campeche brought from “co pilot” a companion who also showed no consideration (arrived approximately 40 minutes late the car, was his companion in the co-pilot seat and did not ask if anyone wanted to sit in that place or if those behind her had enough space, had the seat traveled until the back )

Both Calukmul and Balamkuwere amazing sites. We got to see several local animals on our way to and from Calukmul. While that isn’t promised it sure was special. Getting to the top of one of the temples in Calukmul afforded us the opportunity to see a monkey! Also an incredible view of the complex and surrounding forest. Balancing was a shorter trips with a big payoff that I won’t spoil. Afterwards lunch/dinner was delicious, and well earned. The drive is long if you only go for one day, but worth it. Our guide was Willberth. He was amazing. A soft spoken gentleman with a passion for the natural world and human history. Couldn’t recommend this more. Went in the rainy season, had both sites to ourselves.

We had a great time on this tour! Willberth has an excellent knowledge about the archeology and wildlife. Definitely can recommend to go with this tour operator!

I had to “go with the flow” in the beginning, I didn’t know what was happening. In the end, I met all of my goals and more! We visited a lagoon, saw a Cenotes, got on a boat, did a lot of swimming, saw sea life while snorkeling, and Mayan Ruins from the ocean. I had a nine-year-old with me, it probably changed his life.

The only downside of this tour was the drive time as it was 4-5 hours, but that cannot be helped. Everything was great, it was a very informative tour and you can see an original stucco in Balamku. Highly reccommend! Wil was very knowledgable about the Mayan history and has a good eye for different kinds of birds and animals that I otherwise would not have seen. We ended our tour with dinner at a restaurant, but he does provide sandwhiches and snacks tbroughout the day.

Although this was indeed a very long day due to the required driving time, Enrique made it a very interesting & educational day. In addition to seeing and learning about the wonderful Calekmul civilization, we were able to see several unique animal & plant species. It ended with an excellent dinner at a local restaurant near the entrance to the reserve.

Alfredo and Jesus were amazing guides! They were so knowledgeable about Mayan culture, history and customs. I was truly blown away by everyone's hospitality and graciousness. The sites were careful curated with enough time to enjoy what the Yucatan has to offer. 5 stars and two thumbs up!

the history is beautiful I high recommend. the tour we took with paradisadventours.com they were amazing . on time and great. they spoke English very well.

The driver was punctual to pick us up. The guide was knowledgeable of his topics both for the archeological site, and the reserve. Both staff were careful, polite. They stopped many times for us to be able to see the different animals on the way. Also, we were provided with a snack, light lunch and water. A successful trip.

The tour was well organized by Ka'an Expedition. They picked us up at the hotel Casa Ka'an, it was only the two of us. The driver had a nice car, new and clean we picked up the guide 45 min to Xpujil and he was also kind and knowledgable. I recommend visiting Calakmul as they are ruins in the jungle, with very few people around. You can still climb the pyramids and get a breathtaking view of the selva. Picnic organized by the company, well prepared and tasty. Recommended!

We started our tour from Campeche early in the morning and we come back early evening, so it was a long day. Nevertheless we enjoyed the tour. Good experience.

Wonderful trip to Calakmul and our guide Wilbert was amazing. Learnt so much about the Mayans and this wonderful city. Highly recommend this trip!

You explore the area in a very pleasant small group and not only get information about the Mayan site but also about the flora and fauna. We were treated individually. We climbed 4 pyramids and never felt like we had to rush. The drive from the "entrance" to the actual site is also very long. We were glad that we didn't have to drive ourselves.
