Steve, the guide was well educated in the how, why and when as he explained the history associated with the Nazi concentration camp. Being at the camp was a humbling experience. Steve explained in detail some of the experiences the prisoners endured and how the camp operated on a daily basis. The cost was a little more expensive than many of the other tours, however this was a small group tour which gave Steve the opportunity to give moredetailed background information about the camp and to answer individual questions. Our group was made of only four participants, which made it great. My husband and I, are seniors and move slower than the others. So, we decided to move through the camp on our on. Steve was gracious.enough to point out some areas of significance and explain there impact on the camp. I would highly recommend this tour.

Martin was AMAZING!
Martin was exceptional - the very BEST guide on our trip. He not only knows the history and the most memorable sights but also has a local's insight into the culture of the area. He answered every one of our questions with interesting and useful information. His passion for Potsdam got us excited to come back again. For example, he not only showed us the Bridge of Spies but also the path of the wall nearby which was impacted by the waterline and affected the property rights of the people after reunification. A bonus was that he brought his friendly dog who will steal your heart. Martin was very open about the challenges facing Germany while maintaining his optimism for the future. Another example of his knowledge was that he explained that the small potatoes left on the grave of Frederick the Great was a reference to the King's concern for the common man which he alleviated by increasing the supply of potatoes which are nutritionally dense and complete. All these observations, his choice of sights and observations provided us a Master Class in understanding and appreciating Potsdam. Amazing Guide!!

An in depth tour with a superb guide!
I have been with students to Sachsenhausen at least 4 times. Julia at Berlin Walks was by far the best guide I have had there. Her passion for history, her knowledge, and her empathy toward the students made it a special moment. Many students mentioned this tour as a highlight of their week as they learned so much and were so moved by the experience. Julia asked great questions to engage the students and was patient with every question. And when she knew she would speak for more than a few minutes, she always made sure there was a place for students to sit.What was particularly great was the fact that she met us at the station near our hostel and walked with us through the town of Oranienburg on a similar route the prisoners would have taken from the train station. Along the route she pointed out what the would have been going on in the town, where camp labor was used, and where camp guards lived and trained.Sometimes guides can talk down to kids, make them feel bad for maybe not having the right attitude. She set the tone early on as their guide and thought partner. She let them know what appropriate behavior was, what to take pictures of and what to leave out of photos, what could be sat on and what was sacred. I appreciate the extra time and care she took to make sure our trip was a success.

Great experience with a 10/10 guide.
We went on this tour and were delighted. Our guide was Vicent and she was wonderful. It turned out that that day they were just detonating a World War II bomb, a fact that, she told us, happened often, but that day they did not notify anyone in advance, so we were lucky to arrive at the town to start the visit to the concentration camp, since shortly after they cut off public transport. The visit went wonderfully and Vicent kept us hooked on her explanations the whole time, with extraordinary oratorical skill. Then, to return to Berlin, because of the transport cuts, we had to take replacement buses and Vicent made sure that each of us arrived at our next point as soon as possible and safely. A 10/10 for Vicent.

Very complete information, and he didn't just stick to what the place required, but rather contextualized it with many more things. Brilliant day out to a lovely town and pleasure gardens. Well worth going. Experienced and very friendly guide . A lot of walking but I managed with a swollen knee! Had to purchase own train ticket for ABC cost inexpensive.
