A fun day for dog lovers and people interested in Greek cookery and food. It was well organised but still relaxed in true Greek style. Our tour guide Michael was very knowledgeable, friendly, and great fun.

I cannot put into words how much I enjoyed this day. Our host Michael was simply charming + we had great fun. Fitstly taking the dogs for a walk, getting to know the history & cuddle time with the pups followed by a great cookery lesson from local Maria and sitting down to enjoy her home cooked food topped off the perfect day! Highly reccomended trip for sure. Thank you Louise & Sophie!

Our visit to the Skiathos Dog Shelter was, without question, the absolute highlight of our holiday. What started as a simple visit to walk a few rescue dogs turned into a life-changing experience, as we fell in love and ended up adopting two beautiful dogs who are now part of our family. We will be forever grateful for everything this incredible sanctuary has done.The dedication, compassion and hard work of everyone involved is truly inspiring. Sarah, Simon, Ian and David, along with all of the other volunteers, are wonderful ambassadors for the sanctuary. They generously give so much of their own time, energy and love to care for these amazing dogs and help them find the forever homes they deserve. Their kindness and commitment shine through in everything they do.The shelter itself is spotless, well organised and filled with love. Every dog is clearly cared for with patience, affection and respect. Taking the dogs for a walk through the beautiful hills of Skiathos was such a magical and rewarding experience, and seeing their excitement and happiness is something we’ll never forget.If you’re visiting Skiathos, this is an absolute must-visit. Whether you can walk a dog, make a donation, volunteer your time or, like us, even change your life by adopting, every bit of support makes a huge difference. Please please visit the dog shelter in Skiathos and see the amazing care they do for these beautiful animals, including the amazing volunteers. Also, please donate as they rely on donations as they only get a small fraction of the cost per ticket. It was a wholesome day spent and it felt so warming to know the help these dogs have received. Also afterwards at the sit down meal learning traditional Greek dish’s was amazing. The food tasted AMAZING and definitely one of my favourite meals during the whole trip! The gentleman/host on our coach was super friendly and put a smile on our faces with his lovely energy. Definitely recommend this trip.

We were rather excited to do this trip. Walked a lovely little dog called Stella, very nervous but enjoyed being out. If life permitted I would be moving out here and volunteering at the Skiathos dog shelter. What a great bunch of humans. On for a cookery demo of some traditional Greek dishes by the fabulous Maria, at her taverna, followed by lunch of the same. Cheese pies in filo pastry, stuffed tomatoes and peppers, then some syrupy carrot with Greek yoghurt. Yum. Throw in the hiliarious old school British humour of Michael, our guide, to make for a thoroughly enjoyable day. Would highly recommend getting booked. This trip only runs on a Sunday, so limited spaces.

This dog shelter is well worth a visit, the staff do a tremendous job caring for the dogs and are open to questions from visitors and they are very professional and friendly. Now here's the BUT coming! Do not book this trip through Tui, you are told by the rep that 35 euro is given to the shelter in donation but in fact only 5 euro is given to them. I understand that Tui needs to make some money but for 70 euro per person (you do get a cookery demo and a greek lunch) the cost ratio to the donation and paying for the meal and the transport does not balance out. Definitely in Tui's favour. So if you do book be aware that Tui is getting the bulk of your money and only a pittance to the people providing their services.

Whether you visit, volunteer, donate, walk a dog or simply help spread the word, every little bit of support makes a difference.It’s such a rewarding experience and a lovely way to give something back whilst on holiday. The dogs are beautiful, friendly and so deserving of love and care.Definitely worth supporting if you’re in Skiathos 🐾

We had a lovely day out and particularly enjoyed our walk with the dogs. This was followed by a cooking demonstration and a nice lunch at the taverna. Thanks to Michael our guide.

Brilliant day out! Well organised and a must for dog and food lovers. Great to combine the dog walking in the morning and work up an appetite to enjoy the delicious local freshly prepared food afterwards. Definitely recommend 😊

Great day out , the dog shelter is very well run and organised . The dogs are very well cared for and were so excited to go for a walk. We really enjoyed it . They are very grateful of a donation , we took food and put money in the pot. Maria's cookery lesson and lunch was fabulous, she showed us how to cook 3 courses , then we got to eat them. Absolutely delicious. We would highly recommend this trip.

We got the bus from Troulos to the dog shelter. We walked a few different dogs. My teenage daughters loved the experience. The ladies who run the shelter are so friendly. Great experience.

Well organized and a great way to help the local shelter pups. The staff are so dedicated and truly love all of the dogs. The cooking class by Maria was so much fun and the food was delicious. A really lovely way to spend a few hours in Skiathos.

A fantastic experience and would definitely recommend. Michael was a great and humorous tour guide and it was such a bonus being collected and dropped off again to do the experience. The dogs were beautiful and the shelter staff were really inspiring and lovely. The cooking demonstration and lunch afterwards was brilliant. We learnt how to make a 4 course dinner and Maria was again so lovely and warm. Well done all involved for a great day.

The Make a Dog’s Day experience in Skiathos is a heartwarming and fun way to spend time with rescue dogs. Be sure to check your nearest bus stop and watch for text updates—this helps make travel smoother. The shelter owners and guide are friendly and knowledgeable, and the time with the dogs feels just right—plus some adorable puppies come out to play. There’s also nice merchandise available, perfect for supporting the shelter. If you prefer a solo visit, you can volunteer to walk a dog anytime for free.After the shelter visit, there's a cooking demonstration in a nice location where the chef shares cultural insights before you enjoy a delicious meal and included a drink.Overall, a well-organized and meaningful experience for animal and food lovers.
