This tour exceeded our expectations and was easily one of the highlights of our trip to Croatia!The scenic drive through the Istrian countryside was a great start and the Karlić Tartufi property is absolutely beautiful. We began with a quick introduction to the family’s history and truffle hunting, along with a taste of truffle liqueur. Then we got to meet the adorable truffle-hunting dogs, who were clearly very eager to get out and start hunting!The hunt itself was fun and interesting. It’s a fairly easy walk through the woods and the two dogs who led the tour found three truffles while we were out. They provide boots so you don’t have to worry about getting your shoes muddy but do wear socks!After the hunt, we headed back inside to their beautiful tasting room, which has incredible views of the surrounding countryside. Nikole prepared several dishes right in front of us using the truffles we had just found. The food was delicious, but Nikole really made the experience. She was incredibly engaging, knowledgeable and fun, and taught us so much about truffles and Istrian food along the way. She truly made it an A+ experience.The wine was generously poured, every dish was delicious, and the fresh warm donut holes with chocolate truffle spread at the end were the perfect finish.There’s also a small truffle museum right next door that is definitely worth visiting while you’re there. It’s the first truffle museum in Croatia and has some fascinating history and exhibits about truffles and the tradition of truffle hunting in Istria.From the beautiful setting and adorable dogs to the hunt, cooking demonstration, food, wine and wonderful hospitality, the whole experience felt special from beginning to end. If you’re visiting Istria, don’t miss this. It was one of our favorite experiences of our entire Croatia vacation.

This was an exceptional cooking class. My husband and I try to take a cooking class on most of our trips and this is one of the best we have taken. The food we prepared was delicious, the chefs were informative, fun and very well organized. We all got to participate in the preparation of the meal and we enjoyed getting to meet other people on their travels!! We loved the visit to the market to buy the veggies and fish we would be preparing!! You can’t go wrong taking this class! You’ll be a highlight of your trip to Croatia

An absolutely wonderful adventure for both us and our Lagotto! It was such a pleasure to get a little closer to the fascinating world of truffle hunting. There was plenty of exploring through the bushes, digging, mud, and, of course, lots of smiles along the way.Ivana’s dogs are absolutely amazing and incredibly sweet. You can truly see the passion and kindness in both the dogs and their owner. Their enthusiasm and love for what they do make the whole experience really special.And after such an adventure, the food tasting was even more enjoyable! A fantastic experience that we would happily recommend to anyone looking for something authentic, fun, and memorable. ❤️

A magical night at a special place
Our cooking class, meal and experience at Kameni Dvori was beyond our expectations. We had private transportation to and from our small ship. When we arrived we were warmly greeted by Nikki who served us a delicious brandy and some wonderful homemade crackers. We then toured the magnificent garden while she explained about all of their incredible agriculture. We collected fresh veggies, eggs and ate figs right off the tree. Next we went to the kitchen and prepared home made bread. Then we prepped the veggies. Of course Nikki served us delicious wine right from their vineyard as we cooked. She told us all about the centuries old family estate that we were at. She lit the hearth fire and we ate like royalty. Amazing fresh battered zucchini and eggplant with incredible homemade chutneys. Then the main course. And finally the most incredible flourless cake which we had help prepare. It was just me and my husband and our experience far exceeded our expectations. They also have a magnificent villa for rent which sleeps ~8 or 10. Don’t miss this opportunity to experience real life in Croatia.

This was the most amazing experience. I was in “Truffle Heaven”. Daughter Ivana took us into their museum and explained the whole family history and how they started from nothing. Then we went into the forest with our guide and 2 dogs who did find truffles. After we had the most outstanding lunch. Everything with truffles. But probably the best was the family and staff. What a wonderful experience. The truffle hunting experience was wonderful. We went out with a hunter and 2 dogs and watched the dogs dig for truffles. Next stop, a fabulous 5 star lunch with truffles and more truffles in a beautiful restaurant. A wonderful charcuterie board, red and white wine, followed by lunch. We watched as lunch was prepared and enjoyed every bite. Dessert was amazing too. Come hungry!! The family was so welcoming and friendly. This was a magical experience NOT to be missed. We left carrying lots of truffle products from their store.
