Top-rated Potsdam Attractions, Landmarks & More

an eventful tour with a very experienced guide

This was an excellent tour of Potsdam by Stefan. He explained the sights and history of Potsdam and how it related to other parts of German and European history. The tour ended near the Sanssouci Palace, and we took a tour of the Sanssouci Palace after the tour. This palace is a phenomenal experience. Potsdam is well worth seeing!!!

Boarding at Luisenplatz was optimal, as a seat was guaranteed. The tour was very nice, as the commentary on the sights in the headphones was clear and easy to understand and balanced in content. The Contipark underground garage at Luisenplatz was catastrophic. The elevator was broken (walker had to be carried). Payment machine was out of order, with no indication of a functional one.

A really interesting tour, covering the main sights of Potsdam, and excellent guide! Thank you!

Our tour guide Dr. Wieland was able to completely thrill us for 3 hours with his extensive historical knowledge and his relaxed storytelling style. We can highly recommend this tour to anyone taking a trip to Potsdam.

Unforgettable and deeply moving private tour with Luis and Eric!Rating: ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐Review:We booked a private combo tour of Berlin and the Sachsenhausen Concentration Camp through Cool Destinations, and it was hands-down the highlight of our trip. Our driver, Eric, was fantastic—he provided a smooth, comfortable, and completely stress-free ride throughout the day. Our guide, Luis, was absolutely world-class. Balancing the vibrant history of Berlin with the heavy, sombre reality of Sachsenhausen is no easy task. Luis handled it with the utmost respect, empathy, and depth of knowledge. We covered an incredible amount of ground seamlessly. In Berlin, we explored iconic landmarks like the Brandenburg Gate, Checkpoint Charlie, and the Berlin Wall, alongside several museums. A unique highlight was stopping to see the plaque dedicated to President Ronald Reagan. Luis brought the history of each location alive through powerful storytelling rather than just reciting dates. If you want a flawless, deeply educational, and premium private experience in Berlin, request Luis and Eric—they are an unbeatable team!

The tour was informative and entertaining, although we still took 3 hours because there were so many other things to discover. The installation of the app is simple; afterward, you just enter the code that you receive via email or SMS. Then it can begin. Headphones are recommended.

Very nice and interesting guided tour. Enough stops and a well thought out order. Jo Eckhart also has a good narration. Good mix of facts: informative and lighthearted. Liked to be able to listen in advance to be more prepared.

We were captivated by the lush greenery and beautifully manicured landscapes and stories about the various buildings which date back to the 18th and 19th centuries.

I am 66 years old and have bad knees. So I wasn’t able to finish the tour. What I saw, I think it was just as good as a guided tour, that is self guided would not have been improved by a person leading it.

Thanks to this walking tour and the friendly guide, we got to see the blend of blend of history, beauty and culture of Potsdam. The grandeur of the architecture of the Sanssouci Palace is worth experiencing. We liked the way the guide spoke about various significant moments in history.

Zlato was a truly informative guide for Potsdam. He put in a lot of effort to customize the Tour according to my preferences. We didn’t walk as much as he wanted me to since it was awfully cold for me. But that was my own choice. He spent much more than the scheduled hour as listed since we struck up a good conversation over Kebabs!I had a Great time & hope to have a tour with him again for Berlin next time. Thanks Zlato. Hope I didn’t butcher your name.

Seeing different neighborhoods and hearing the history of Frederick the Great were highlights. The Sansoucci Palace was lovely and easy to explore. It must be really beautiful there when the trees and flowers are blooming.,

Having really enjoyed a couple of Jo Eckardt’s audio tours in Berlin, we decided to do this one in Potsdam. Again it was excellent - a lovely route, well narrated and lots of interesting historical background and anecdotes.

What I liked best was the style in which the tour guide spoke about royal dreams and the great powers as per the history of the Cecilienhof Palace, with it's history going back to the year 1913. And how the Cecilienhof Palace has in a way "evolved" from being an early Neoclassical palace to the modern country manor. Since I am interested in neoclassical history, this tour was a delight for me.

Anastasia was a wonderful guide! Her English was excellent and she was extremely knowledgeable. If I ever go back, she’ll be my first call before I even book tickets. Due to cruises, I’ve had a lot of tours recently, and most have been good, but she makes iit great!
