Easy to book and excellent local experience
Ellen was an incredible tour guide and the driver was great also! Booking this was super easy and the pick up and drop off at all the locations was very smooth. Ellen was very informative about everything and enriched my experience. She took me to places where there were not many tourists to get a local feel. She even gave me recommendations for the rest of my time in Guilin. I would 100% recommend Ellen and this tour.

Fantastic, 100% worth the price, would book it again and again 😍
Fantastic adventure trip. Highly recommended. My tour guide was very well-read and super friendly. A people-oriented experience. Culturally, there was a lovely show in the Longhair Village that explained the tradition.

Magnificent scenery combined with a delicious lunch at a farmer family
We loved the whole trip with our great German speaking guide Julia. Just the three off us wandering through the fields and enjoying the magnificent scenery. Another highlight was the lunch prepared for us by a local farmer family, very friendly people and delicious food prepared from fresh ingredients. Overall, a great day out.

Beautiful terrace rice farming
During harvesting and photos taken from cable car. We wish we could help up with the farmers but it was raining. During harvest now, it resemble gold field. I would expect the growing will be all green which is a different beauty altogether.

Great experience in great scenery even under suboptimal weather
We were lucky, in addition to us there was only one more person with us on the tour, which made the tour even more enjoyable. First it seemed as if the weather would spoil the tour for us. But our guide Lily had a good instict or experience regarding the schedule of the tour. So we were able to have some fog-free views on the terraces between the rainy sections what made the experience even a little mystical. We also liked the look into a typical house and how they made paint out of leaves. And last but not least the great lunch we had, definitely one of the best we had during our complete journey. So this tour was an absolute highlight on our journey, 100 percent recommendation.I only want to add that the described schedule on this website is more like a rough idea of the tour, which isn´t a problem. More important for me is to have a great experience with a guide that can react on the given circumstances. And that was absolutely given.

Amazing, wonderful rice terraces
This was a great tour. The rice terraces are spectacular no matter what the season. A great view of village life. Great food! A word of warning though: The road is a rough drive up the mountain, so if you have a bad back, consider giving this tour a miss.

This tour was the highlight of our trip to Guilin
We absolutely loved our tour the the rice terraces and the local villages. We went on May 1 which is the first day of the planting festival so there was lots of activity with the locals getting the fields ready for planting. Despite being a long weekend it was not too busy.
There is a fair bit of walking, but all of us including our 2 kids (6 and 8) really enjoying walking through the fields, trees and villages.
Yang was a very friendly and knowledgeable guide.

An Excellent Experience
Our group consisted of four people, including ourselves. Therefore there was plenty of time to enjoy the company of our companions and to hear from our engaging and informative guide, Yang. The lunch in the village and the views across the terraces with the mist lifting were particularly memorable.Alan and Christine

Highlight of our trip to Guilin - Lonji Rice Terraced Fields & Minority Villages Tour
The breathtaking views we saw as we hiked the rice terraces from Zhuang Village to Ping’an Village was worth every step. It was drizzling but it wasn’t a problem as we were dressed appropriately. The clouds added to the tranquility and mystique of the place. We had lunch at a local home which was delicious and the best meal on our trip. The hostess was very hospitable and briefed us on how the rice wine was prepared. Our group of 4 was guided by an English speaking guide, Yang, who is a cheerful, passionate and helpful guide. She accompanied us to the train station in Guilin to help us change our train ticket for an earlier train to Guangzhou. I highly recommend going for this tour with Yang as your guide.

Beautiful terraces tour
I am so glad I decided to visit Guilin during my trip to China. This tour to the rice terraces was one of the highlights of my trip. Since it was the low season, I ended up the only person on my tour. I chose Trippest over cheaper operators for all my China tours because I guessed that the guides would be consistently good, and I wasn't disappointed - Lily was a fantastic guide, knowledgeable and fun. It was an absolutely beautiful day to walk through the rice terraces, which were flooded with water and glistening in the sun. The stop at a family home for lunch was hands down the best meal I ate in China and it featured bamboo rice, local bacon, a delicious puffed rice dish, and rice wine made right there in the home. All the guides say that late November/early December isn't a good time to visit the terraces, but I couldn't disagree more. Perfect weather, picturesque terraces, and hardly any other tourists.

Amazing tour with Mr Chasen!
I went on the day tour in early January, the weather was not the best but I still go to see a lot! I was the only person on the tour, with the guide Mr Chasen and our driver. The view from the drive there and once we were up in the village were breathtaking. It was very quiet because off-season but I loved it. We ran into villagers who were preparing for a wedding and walked with them for a bit. We stopped for food in the village and the meal was delicious. My guide Mr Chasen was knowledgeable, his english was really good, and he knew the region well. I would highly recommend this day tour if you are in the area!

Authentic experience, beautiful scenery, and great guide Lily!
I went on this trip during the low season (January) and was the only person on the trip. My guide, Lily, was great! She was knowledgeable, funny, and I enjoyed hanging out with her 1 on 1 all day. It rained on and off most of the day and was foggy, but Lily took me on the hike to the minority villages anyway and we dried our shoes at the lunch spot. The lunch was delicious and an unique insight into the lives of people living in the area. The views were partially obscured by the fog, but made the pictures mysterious and when the fog cleared all the more wonderful. I highly highly recommend this tour.

This was a day of delights! The rice fields and views were spectacular. The mountain village was really neat and the local ladies show was truly interesting. The lunch meal was tasty and our driver was very pleasant. We stopped for a tea service on the way home that was also quite special.

I did this tour with Hill and it was very enjoyable. Only 3 of us, so we did it by private car. Hill has excellent English and was very knowledgeable . He tailored the tour to our interests. We took the cable car instead of hiking in the heat and I am glad we did as this as it allowed extra time which we used to visit Reed Flute Caves, which was also well worth doing. Great value and a good time !
