Whittier Travel Guides (Updated September 2026)

Sherrye was excellent and went out of her way to get us to places we wanted to see! We saw Salman spanning because of a stop she made. It was a fun experience.

Daniel is an exellent tour guide and clearly loves the outdoors and Alaska. Would highly recommend him for a tour!

The cruise is exactly as described, viewing glaciers of various sizes and types. During our cruise, Harvard glacier calved about a 200ft section and we ended up riding a 12 foot wave displacement. The boat was comfortable, the chowder/chili for lunch was good (cookie was amazing), and the staff was friendly and professional. I have been on the cruise multiple times and each cruise brings something new and different. The tourist season ended and fall has begun to set in so the wildlife has begun their migrations. Sea lions and kittiwakes were still around with the occasional sea otter coming into view.

Our driver was also an amazing tour guide. She shared interesting information our entire trip and spotted a ton of wildlife for us to see. The bus was in great condition and going to the reserve gives an opportunity to see animals up close.

Amazing tour! Our guide, Sherrye was simply wonderful! Taylor made tour for our time frame on our day of disembarkation from our cruise ship. Most of the beautiful places we visited were completely without other tourists, so our photos were amazing! We were four in our party and we had a mini bus just for our own use which was great when visiting so many stops. 10/10! Thank you!

Had such a great time with Phillips Cruises! I was on the BRAVEST for our 26 Glacier cruise and we hit all the sights! Big highlights for me were cruising through the Ester Passage and viewing the Yale Glacier. The Esther passage passed lots of sea lions and then winded between Esther Island and the mainland. It was most like a river cruise! Crazy good views of wildlife and the forest. Although we saw tons of glaciers, Yale was so beautiful with all the floating ice, silly seals and a view of the whole valley. My pictures really ain’t much help but it does capture how nice of a day they scheduled :)>Big thanks to Matt, Noel, Njoni, Alec and the whole crew!! This team rocks!

Great scenery. Knowledgeable narrative from driver. Driver was also very helpful and courteous handling our luggage.

The actual drive time is about an hour but there's a one way tunnel at Whittier one must wait to get through. That's why it says 2 hours. The bus was new and comfortable. The driver was polite and informative. The scenery on the way was breathtaking!

Taylor was AWESOME!! Very knowledgeable and kind. He made this a one of a kind experience. Thanks Taylor!!!!!

great stops. knowledgeable and very kind. gave us ample of time to explore each area we stopped at. i would use Ty again if we came back to Alaska.

Our driver contacted us while we were on the ship in Whittier. He explained where he would meet us. He was very friendly and knowledgable and gave us good information. The conservation centre was worth the visit. Large grounds and lots of animals to see. We were dropped at our hotel in Anchorage as we were a small tour.

We had a great day with Adam. He was a great ambassador for the Anchorage area, showing us many sights in Whittier, Anchorage, and points in between. A highlight was the Wildlife Conservation Center, and Adam even drove us to several different spots there, so that we didn’t miss seeing some of the animals. He was very knowledgeable, and his commentary added greatly to the experience. At the end of the journey, he took us directly to our Airbnb. If you need to get from the port in Whittier to Anchorage, and you have some time to spare, I highly recommend Adam’s service.

Kevin was a great tour guide! He was very informative and filled the time well. This is a great way to transfer from a cruise ship in Whittier to Anchorage.

Great tour, guide, and much better than waiting in an airport.
