Tromso Travel Guides (Updated September 2026)

It was rainy and cloudy all around tromso hence Jordy ( guide) decided to go to Finland where we had partial clear skies and nice aurora activity. Kept the group engaged throughout the journey and took some excellent photos. Long night but rewarding The driver was very good too

Oda was an excellent guide! We learned a lot about Tromsøs history and the polar bears. She also gave us some very good recommendations of places to visit in the city and even surprised us with some chocolate. The museums included in the tour are great, especially with such a nice guide!

The snow was dumping in Tromso the whole day and night we were booked on our Aurora chase and so we didn’t have much hope in finding any clear sky in the chance of seeing the Aurora Borealis but Antonio our guide did an amazing job in making it happen. We ended up driving several hours south of Tromso to find the clear sky. Antonio didn’t stop working the whole night to make it happen, it really was a chase that night. We got to see amazing lights. The van we travelled in was warm and comfortable. The photos we also got were insane. I would definitely recommend this tour.

We were fortunate that we had heavy snow the days we were in Tromso which made the Reindeer experience all the more special. We were on the front sleigh and had the reindeer from the sleigh behind at the side of us all the time, an amazing experience. Feeding the Reindeer was nice too especially the young ones. Hot drinks were available throughout the trip along with cookies. The traditional lunch was amazing, we thought it would feel odd eating reindeer stew having just fed the herd but it was delicious. The Sami talk was a little confusing as it was all in German so we went back outside to enjoy the scenery sat next to the open fire with hot chocolate.

The highlight of our trip. We got some lovely photos and videos of the reindeer. If we had to pick one single excursion for our time in Tromso this would be it.

We loved the experience and the reindeer were lovely. Such a quiet and scenic ride through the snow. One small thing to note—it’s nearly impossible to take good photos while the sled is in motion, so make sure to snap your pictures before or after the ride. Still, it was the highlight of our trip and very well organized. Highly recommend for the cozy vibes in the lavvu tent!

We knew we couldn't see the northern lights since it was the end of April, but the activity is so much worth It anyway. It was only us and the artic and we were in awe the whole time. The silence, the sound of the river in the background, the light shimmering through the clouds in the horizon... It was magical. Also, best chocolate ever! The hot beverage was a traditional one (and so much better than the hot chocolate we were expecting) We got lots of anectodes on Tromso and its story from our guide, André, who made the atmosphere of this little adventure friendly and peaceful. I promise this experience will surprise you.

We chose this tour because a self drive dog sled excursion was not an option on our cruise. The meeting point was very close to our ship and the drive to the kennel was very scenic. You can tell the dogs are well cared for and love to run. There were stops along the trail for photos and we had beverages and cake back at the kennel. They provide additional clothing if you think you’ll need it. If you find yourself in Tromso and want to drive a dog sled, I recommend this tour. You will have a lot of fun.

Amazing from start to finish, staff and dogs absolutely love what they do. Dogs are friendly and well trained. Safety and equipment are excellent. Me and my wife went as our 60th birthday treat and loved every minuet of it !

We had a great night of aurora hunt. Klara and her associate got us to four different spots for views that are totally out of the world: 1. First aurora next to the wall of icicles 2. The green lady behind the clouds 3. Aurora with view over the bay 4. Fire at the fjord, and again aurora in front of that mountain. Klara, you might remember, this was from the night 3-22-2026. Other participants in our van attested to this night being the most outstanding one among all they have ever experienced. I am very thankful to Klara and her team for leading us to such memorable aurora viewing. Klara is professional, knowledgeable, and attends to everything and everyone in and out of the van. Tire is not in her vocabulary! Weather and other conditions can have an effect of your aurora viewing. But you can be sure of Klara and her team's effort no matter what. I do not know if you do this often Klara. You extended our trip by almost two hours that night. Was it because of the Aurora? It has to be your dedication to what you do. Thank you again for job well done.

We had a very nice night hike with our guide Hendre and enjoyed it a lot

Amazing experience. It was my first time hiking in the snow, and I wish I could it more often. Our guide is such a nice guy, fun, tell us a lot about local culture, geography, everything. I truly recommend it.

I took this adventure with guide Gudmund in early April 2026, and it was apparently the last hike of the season.I have reached an age where I no longer count my pennies, so I don't recall the fee - but as I often say, no one travels to save money!I found it to be a very relaxed, laid back and enjoyable hike. I think we probably walked a maximum of 5-6 km, with plenty of rest breaks, short and really interesting narrations of local history, a quiz here and there, as well as some of the most beautiful natural scenery you'll ever experience.There are several reasons I enjoyed this adventure. Firstly, we didn't drive for more than about 40-50 minutes. Less time driving meant more time walking. Secondly, we took a detour off the main track and thus avoided encountering too many others. Thirdly, it was a small group - there were four adventurers and guide Gudmund. Fourthly, Gudmund was [as I mistakenly understood his name when he said it] a "Good Man" - friendly, informative, and helpful.It pays to be reasonably fit to take this adventure. None of us adventurers were athletes and only one of us was under thirty years old, but we kept a good pace. Recommend you bring waterproof pants, good quality waterproof boots, snow goggles/ sunglasses as well as sun block. Even if you've never used snowshoes, like me, once you're fitted [Gudmund turned us all into experts at this], it takes about five minutes to get used to walking in them. Apparently, I was the first adventurer to take this walk wearing a T-shirt!I will be back for more adventures, and I will recommend this to my friends.
