Surat Thani Travel Guides (Updated September 2026)

We booked the German guide as one of us spoke no English. It was so enjoyable and we had such a good time. The private guide / driver option is so much better and well worth every penny. You don’t have to wait for random people coming back late to the bus or taking a million selfies. You can just get on with what you are interested in. We were three ladies in the end (2 guests and one guide) and it made for a real fun day out. We saw everything we had intended to see and more. The company Mr Samui is family-owned and it was a pleasure being their customer and being looked after (proper Thai hospitality). Next time we go to Samui we will definitely choose them again.

We had an excellent time, our guide was punctual and happy to do the activities we had planned on what turned out to be a hot day. He tailored the tour to suit our ability to get a table at the Jungle club for lunch and nothing was too much trouble, even a pit stop at 7 Eleven on the way home for snacks.I would thoroughly recommend.

Mr S was waiting for us at reception in our hotel in his AC SUV. He was immediately welcoming and friendly and explained how our time would work - we booked 4 hours and could Go where we wanted and spend as much as time at any of our stops. He was a great guide, very informative and also gave us space to explore. We had water, towels to freshen up and a comfy ride with much welcomed AC! Highly recommend the coconut ice cream at the view point - delicious! We are a family of 3 and our 16 year old son was hesitant to do a guided tour but he loved it and thought Mr S was a great guide for the morning. I’ve visited Koh Samui before but never really explored the island so this was a great trip to experience all of the island highlights. Great value for money, highly recommend 😊

Exceptional tour provided by a very friendly and knowledgeable tour guide. His English language proficiency was excellent, enabling us to have meaningful conversations about Buddhism and Samui life. Mr Bin (apologies for spelling) picked us up on time and tailored our morning as we wanted and made great suggestions. He got us to places before the big trips turned up and when we mentioned that we would like to go to the Haven Elephant Cafe he even incorporated a visit there. A lovely man, very knowledgeable and would highly recommend.

An amazing customised trip with guide Tony and driver Tong. Nothing was too much trouble with a 10 month old in tow! Tony recommended Koh Samui key spots in the time we had. The van was very well air conditioned and most welcome in the heat!Only sour point was a Cool Destinations adviser declining us being picked up at our own hotel which was 5 minutes away from the Ritz and where we had to eventually take a taxi with baby. This was not something that was required I was told as we actually went past our hotel after pick up anyway (so a little annoyed).However this was not the guide/drivers fault but more Cool Destinations’s policy .

We had a great day on our private tour with Mr. Samui. We were picked up on time and traveled around the island in a comfortable, well air-conditioned bus.Our guide, Sixsun, was very friendly and planned the itinerary together with us. We visited beautiful viewpoints and temples, stopped at a beach for a swim and lunch, and even made a spontaneous stop for fresh coconut ice cream — a fun and authentic touch.Highly recommended, especially for families with young children. We saw a lot in a short time while staying comfortable in the heat.

It was such a gift to experience this tour on Songkran. Our guide went above and beyond to find us experiences (meeting elephants) even when businesses were closed for the holiday. Thank you for being so accommodating and generous with us.

Awan was our guide and provided a great custom tour and lunch place for us. He advised well on our time available and avoided a huge traffic jam so we returned to our ship on time. We enjoyed talking with him about many subjects. He was very pleasant and we enjoyed his company. We would highly recommend him!

Thank you for the wonderful trip ☺️. Our guide was Nat. He was very individual to our wishes and thus allowed us a few nice hours on Koh Samui. We could visit many sights. It was also great that he introduced us to some Thai delicacies. So he spontaneously bought us the fruit “rose apple” and “fried bananas” – even with coconut wrapping. It all tasted very delicious 🤤 Many thanks also to our driver (unfortunately we don’t remember his name 🫣). He was very careful and prudent.

Had our tour of Koh Samui today with our guide Sixsun, or Mr S, … he was an absolute star - very advocating, very thoughtful, checked what we wanted and delivered & more with a suggestion of seeing trained monkeys climbing the trees to get the coconuts down …. excellent, highly recommended
