Welcome to San Juan Islands

Northwest of Seattle outside the mouth of Puget Sound, the San Juan Islands are a group of islands in the waters between the Washington state mainland and Vancouver Island Canada. The three most-populous islands, San Juan, Orcas, and Lopez Islands, are served by ferry from Seattle and nearby towns. The islands are second-home and vacation spots, and the surrounding waters are popular for boating, fishing, and whale watching. Pods of orcas inhabit the area, jet boat tours brave the tidal waters pouring under Deception Pass bridge through the narrow gap between Whidbey and Fidalgo Islands, sea kayaking is excellent, and Mt. Baker rises to the east in North Cascade National Park.
