Port Antonio Travel Guides (Updated September 2026)

The Rio Grande Bamboo Rafting Tour from Port Antonio was amazing. We loved the rapids and beautiful water. We had lunch at Belinda's. The food was delicious and the portions were not skimpy. Our guide was very friendly and worked hard during the tour.

The drive from Ocho Rios to Port Antonio was a bit long, although beautiful, however, we found the bamboo raft trip down the Rio Grande to be worth the trip. The scenery was gorgeous and on a cloudy day, we did not get too hot. We enjoyed the lunch stop -- the only place we really saw other people. It was nice to get away from the crowds at the sights immediately around Ocho Rios. We went without a reservation. After a slight delay due to google maps sending us on a short cut with a missing bridge (stay on the main road) and some confusion about where to go in Port Antonio -- the first sign for rafting was at the take out point and the guides there tried to get us to do a shorter up and back trip from there-- we drove to Berrydale and found a guide waiting named Josh who competently took us down the river and arranged for a taxi back to our car. The road to Berrydale is a bit tricky due to some significant pot holes so be prepared for it to take longer than you might think from the distance.

I had a great and complete experience, got to try the blue mountain coffee from a local producer, a good hike with nice views, and got to try local food and drinks. Robert is a very experienced tour guide.

A fantastic and relaxing way to explore the Rio Grande. I would highly recommend taking a dip in the river at lunch time!

Excellent tour. Lyndon B Johnson, the "36th President", was a very skilled driver. Bow, the tour guide, was supportive and informative. The tour took me to the op, and although clouds covered some of my view, I still saw excellent views to and from the peak. Also, the man selling the coffee and fruits at the bottom of the hike was generous as I ran out of cash and he discounted me so I can pay for my bus fare home after being dropped off by Lyndon (I lived far from the Kingston hotels). Overall, very pleased. Highly recommended.

We took part in the part bicycle tour to the blue mountain coffee spot in the mountains, and highly recommend folks check this out if you can! Bike riding was simple and chill, no experience needed. Coffee and food on tour was our favorite from the whole trip

Very fun day with a personal guide, great scenery to enjoy all around in the mountains and great coffee to sample. Would do it again the next time we’re in Jamaica.

Very nice trip. The driver was very punctual and accommodating. Captain Mark was likeable and told interesting stories. The river was beautiful and as it was slowseason we had the whole river for ourselves. Eating at Belindas shack in about the middle of the experience is highly recommended

You should know that the hike is pretty much all uphill. I'm an avid hiker and this was a great experience. The trail was basically empty and we made it to the top in time to see the sun rise. I'd recommend this to anyone who likes a little adventure.

Going up into the mountains to see the coffee growing,and having a cup of the beautiful coffee and a slice of rum cake . The drive to into the hills was a really nice experience, the guides was patient and waited for us to get to the top if you feel it was too much you did not have to go to the top. But it was good to see and know all about the coffee and different coffee blend.

Cheryl was a wonderful driver and tour guide. She went above and beyond in making our trip safe and interesting. I would highly recommend this tour.

Despite a slight inconvenience with timing for pickup, I enjoyed the hike with Roger. Quite knowledgeable about not only the mountains, as a former park ranger Roger also possesses a litany of information about flora, birds, mountain culture, (and even music). He’s respected throughout the mountains, giving one a sense of calm not only within a different cultural environment—but also a topographical one. If thinking about this tour—JUST BOOK IT, and do so with Roger. You won’t be disappointed. I most definitely look forward to returning to the mountains with Roger as guide.

Port Antonia a a beautiful area of Jamaica, and not overrun by tourists. Winifred Beach, rafting on the Rio Grande, and the waterfalls up in the mountains are our favorite things to do. We stay at Goblin Hills Villas overlooking San San Beach when we come. It is a beautiful small resort outside of Port Antonio, incredibly landscaped and very reasonably priced. You may choose to engage a personal cook when you stay. I strongly recommend Taneise. She is an amazing cook, and a very pleasant wonderful person. She took us shopping in Port Antonio, which was a delightful adventure in its own right, and cooked all week for us. She also handles cleaning. We absolutely loved her. If you'd like to have Tanice as your personal chef, you can reach her on WhatsApp at 1 (876) 351-5592. Please note that cooks, like most service workers in Jamaica, depend on tips. Service jobs in Jamaica are often paid little to nothing--they just provide an opportunity to earn tips. Please be generous.

I wanted to hike from a long time and blue mountains is the perfect adventure i waited for. It Built my confidence like no other.Just the way how i wanted.Walked into dark peak from 02Am through Rain and wind with the help of WALK GUIDE "Tomae" and Came back by 8am experiencing Rainbow &Sunlight.
