Welcome to New Hope

New Hope Pennsylvania is a small tourist town on the west bank of the Delaware River 30 miles north of Philadelphia. Located at a river crossing on the Old York Road, the main highway between Philadelphia and New York City during colonial times, New Hope is said to be where George Washington spent the night before crossing the Delaware with his troops. The Delaware Canal also passed through the town, and the 19th-century locks and lock-keeper’s house still remain. New Hope offers colonial and Revolutionary War historic sites, vintage railroad tours, world-class museums, and historic homes. The river along with several state parks and reserves support many outdoor recreation activities.
