Welcome to New Haven

On the north shore of Long Island Sound, 80 miles east of Manhattan, New Haven Connecticut is a colonial-era harbor town at the mouth of the Quinnipiac River. Yale University was founded here in 1701 as the Collegiate School, and the campus is among New Haven’s many historical attractions. New Haven is one of America’s first planned cities, and the 16-acre New Haven Green, now a downtown city square, dates back to the original Puritan Nine Square layout. The Grove Street Cemetery, established in 1796, is another major historical site. New Haven also offers diverse neighborhoods, a wide range of international cuisines, great shopping, and day trip access to historic Philadelphia.
