Maru was very motivated and knowledgeable guide. I like that when we reach our different locations we have the option to break off from the group with clear instructions on where to meetup should you choose to. Overall an amazing and informative experience and everyone I met was friendly. I look forward to coming back and booking with my friends in the future.

Worth it! Good trip for short time
We had a great experience. Safe for women traveling. Alfredo met us on time, knows a lot about the area and its culture, nice enough to offer stops if needed and shopping points in good places for goodies and gifts. He put typical good music for us, car was clean, and the conversation in the road included good information. He even made recommendations for eating local food at a good price(which was so yummy!) We recommend this trip, it was so worth it. Thanks to Alfredo who was a great host and guide!

A great day in Patzcuaro
Wonderful trip to Patzcuaro, visiting the archaeological site of Tzintzantzun, boat trip to Janitzo island, plus a great lunch and a couple hours visiting Patzcuaro town. Rodrigo is a fantastic guide, perfect English and very knowledgeable of the history, culture and food of Michoacan. Highly recommended!

Monarch Butterfly Private Tour (Morelia)Abigail_H, Mar 2026
The most efficient way to see the monarchs
We were two girlfriends (Americans) traveling together, and seeing the monarchs was the ultimate reason for our trip to Mexico, so we were willing to splurge a bit to see them. In reality, while the cost of this tour seemed like a splurge at the time of booking, when you take into account the distance from Morelia to the sanctuaries, it would have been very difficult to find a better deal that was both as convenient and as efficient as this tour was. We had read such fabulous reviews about Alfredo as a tour guide, and we were excited to meet him, but instead he brought in his partner Rubén to serve as our guide for the day. However, Rubén was amazing, and we had a wonderful time with him. He was friendly, funny, hospitable, and even helped me practice my Spanish a bit! He spoke English well (he lived on the south side of Chicago for many years!) and we were able to communicate easily (I have some Spanish, but my travel partner had less, so I was specifically looking for an English tour so that she would not miss out on any aspect of the experience). Alfredo and Rubén both communicated with me via WhatsApp before our tour so that we would know what to expect. We were picked up and dropped off directly at our hotel in Morelia, which was awesome and unexpected as the booking listed Burger King as the meeting point. Rubén was right on time for pick-up. The booking indicated that meals would not be included, but we stopped for breakfast about halfway through the drive in Maravatío. When my friend and I went to pay, Rubén informed us that breakfast was included. Another nice surprise! We had packed snacks, so we did not end up stopping for lunch, but I am confident that Rubén would have taken us somewhere for lunch if we had asked. He did a great job of offering at multiple points during the trip to stop for bathrooms or water. Notably, I am prone to motion sickness, and the drive was at times steep, windy, and absolutely full of speedbumps - but I never felt the least bit sick the whole drive - a testament to Rubén's smooth driving! The drive was between 3 and 4 hours each way. We visited El Rosario and not Sierra Chincua - Rubén told us that Sierra Chincua is more "rustic." When we arrived, Rubén left us in the capable hands of the guides that El Rosario provides to each group hiking or riding horses up the mountain. Our wonderful guide was Elvia, who has been serving as a guide at El Rosario for 22 years! Fair warning: If you are not used to altitude, the hike is strenuous and challenging! But it is relatively short (just over 1 mile to the top, then 1 mile down), and you can choose to ride a horse to the top if you don't wish to hike. The horses would have cost an additional 300 MXN/~17 USD, but admission to the sanctuary was included in the cost of the tour. After the tour, Rubén sent us some great photos he had taken of us and some recommendations for the rest of our brief stay in Morelia. We couldn't have asked for a better way to see the monarchs!

Monarch Butterfly from Morelia MichoacanDeborah_S, Mar 2026
Our guide, Carlos, was...
Our guide, Carlos, was knowledgeable and personable. There were supposed to be four people on our trip but the others canceled and so we had a private tour with just the two of us. The car was comfortable. The countryside was beautiful and the mountain roads and towns were amazing. We paid ( 150 pesos each) to get into the sanctuary and 200 pesos each for a delicious meal afterwards.
On the way to the sanctuary he took the back roads and told us about the agriculture of the area . On the way back to Morelia he took the highway and he paid the tolls on the road.
My husband and I are in our 70s and the elevation gain was difficult for me but I took it slow and breathed every time I took a step, and I did fine. If the elevation bothers you, you can take a horse and that's easy to do.
The weather at the top was cool and a little rainy and many of the Butterflies were clustered and many more were flying. Especially when the sun came out. If you are very interested in photographing the Clusters you should bring a telephoto camera. The Clusters look dark from a distance because they are in deep forest and located in tall fir trees.
We loved our trip. It met all of our expectations.

Pátzcuaro Tour From MoreliaMary_M, Feb 2026
Excellent day trip from Morelia! Scenic, historic, charming.
Rodrigo is a great guide! The tour was wonderful, ours included the amazing pre-Columbian Tzintzuntzan with round pyramids! Great view of the lake from there. Then a very scenic drive with views of the islands to a copper studio. Amazing artisans showing us the steps to create this historic artwork. Lunch was in Patzcuaro at a charming local restaurant. Rodrigo then led us about the town square and into some of the “Eleven Patios” that were cloistered courtyards. I was able to get some lovely textiles and embroidered clothing as gifts. Highly recommend.

Magical is right!
Another amazing tour with Jaime! He is absolutely the best. He is so knowledgeable, well read, funny, and kind. He is so familiar and passionate about this area. Not only does he take you to see artisans you would never find, but he gives in depth information about the history and culture of the area. I cannot recommend him enough.

An exceptional tour!
We had a fantastic day with Rodrigo. He is an excellent guide, with a wealth of knowledge about the history and culture of not only the three locations we visited but of Mexico in general. His English is very good. He answered all of our questions. Tzintzuntzan, Santa Clara del Cobre and Patzcuaro are all special and unique places. We highly recommend you do this tour with Rodrigo.

Paricutin Volcano Crater Private TourandygN6786EL, Nov 2025
Alfredo: The Best Paricutin Volcano Crater Private Tour Guide
Before our Parocutin Volcano Private Tour, Alfredo sent us important information about what to bring, wear, shoes, weather forecast, hats, mosquitoes, water, snacks, etc. It was much informative and very helpful for us. He was on time picking us up at our hotel, was very professional, and full of knowledge about the area, its history and the place of the region in Mexican history and the present attempts to help and revive the unique culture of the Patzingo people. It was a long drive but Alfredo kept us entertained with what to expect to see around the volcano lava area. He and the driver of our truck assisted my 2 friends climb up the top of the volcano crater and took us to the village of San Juan Viejo that was inundated by the volcano's lava when it erupted in 1952. He took us to the Church's Bell Tower, climb as close it to as possible, which is the only remaining portion of the Church visible after the church and the entire village was buried under the sea of lava. He also arranged to have some souvenirs brought to the village, such as caps, lanyards that normally was not available. It was a long day (more than 13 hours) made short by the amiable personality of Alfredo and concern about our comfort and satisfaction. I wholeheartedly recommend Alfredo's Tour Guide. I rate it 10+stars!!!!!!!!!!
