Montevideo Travel Guides (Updated September 2026)

Javier was fantastic during my wife's and my adventure to Montevideo this month. Our goal was to learn more about the city from a longer term perspective rather than a quick visit. While taking us to highlighted sites, Javier provided insights and details beyond a standard tour. He is very friendly, extremely knowledgeable, and spoke excellent English. Javier went above our expectations, and we would recommend him to everyone.

We were met by our driver/guide right on time and where he said they would be. We were there on a Sunday. So the good news is there was no traffic, and no crowds at all. At times, it was like visiting a ghost town, which makes it hard to get a real feel for the city. But the operator has no control over that. It is a beautiful city. We did get to see what were the citys high lights. Guide was very knowledgable on the history of the city and country. Very enjoyable and would highly recommend.

Excellent tour of the old town in Montevideo. Clear instructions received from Alberto on the meeting point and he proceeded to provide an informative and interesting 3 hour walking tour of the old town (where the cruise tour buses cannot reach!). English was very good and would highly recommend the tour.

Arrived at Montevideo on a cruise ship and pre-booked this private tour. The driver/Guide Andrea pick us up at the cruise terminal and he is excellent and speak fluent English. We really have a wonderful time to see all the attractions in Montevideo. Strongly recommended and I can only summarize my experience in one word - Excellent.

My husband and I did a one day private tour of Montevideo with Gonzalo as our tour guide. He was excellent and I would highly recommend him. Responded immediately when we were pre-planning, and once there , he was prompt and courteous and very knowledgeable about a wide cache of information that would be of interest to anyone travelling to Uruguay for the first time . I would highly recommend this tour with this guide .

A wonderful introduction to the old town of Montevideo, filled with lots of local history. Alberto was very knowledgeable and answered all of our many questions and gave us many suggestions regarding how to spend our remaining time in the area. Would highly recommend!
