Welcome to Minneapolis-Saint Paul

Sited on the west and east banks of the Mississippi River, the Twin Cities of Minneapolis and St. Paul Minnesota grew from early 19th-century pioneer farming villages and river landings. The area later became the site of a major waterpower flour milling operation and an important Midwest railway hub. Evidence of those early days remains in the historic buildings and homes of the Twin Cities. The nation’s longest stretch of Victorian homes along Summit Avenue in St. Paul, the Minneapolis Riverwalk, dozens of trails and parks, and rich food and craft beer scenes make Minneapolis-St. Paul a great place to take a walking tour, ride a horse-drawn carriage, or do a guided car tour.
