Wow - what a fun experience. Once you taste their chocolate you will never want "store-bought" again. Natasha was an excellent guide and it was so interesting to taste the nuances of the chocolate with and without the wine. We loved learning about the company, their values, and the chocolate making process. Take family and friends to one of the tastings - you will definitely be delighted.

This was a terrific way to spend an afternoon! Natasha was knowledgeable, engaging, and a lot of fun as she guided us through 5 types of chocolate and 3 varieties of wine. I'm a big chocolate fan, but don't think I've ever really taken the time to savor and enjoy the developing flavors like we did during our experience. I brought home a bottle of my favorite wine AND some of my favorite chocolate to enjoy on my own!

River-sea Chocolate is a great local chocolate factory. Their chocolate is great and the owners are involved with and make a positive impact on the community.The chocolate tasting was very informative. We learned about how the cocoa beans are grown and harvested and saw how the beans become chocolate bars. Dave did a good job explaining how it all worked and answering questions. I recommend this tasting if you are looking for something fun and different to do in town.

Plan for about 3 hours as you will want to replay some of the dialog to make sure you heard all the clues. We stopped in the middle and went to dinner, which was great because we spent dinner discussing the clues. Voice actors were really great. Story line was really good. the puzzles were not very clear on what we needed to do so we scored low on puzzle solving but ended up solving the crime :)

My daughter and I had a great time at the chocolate tasting. The background from bean to chocolate in videos were amazing. Our tour guide knew so much about the chocolate-making process, and it was really cool to be able to see everything from start to finish, as well as taste everything from nibs to the melted chocolate before tempering, down to the final product.I’ve done several chocolate tastings in different places, but this one is the best I’ve ever done. Kudos to River Sea for hiring such talented folks!

My daughter and I went as a girls night out. I would highly recommend.

A craft chocolate tasting at River-Sea Chocolate Factory is an experience not to be missed, whether you’re a DMV native or a visitor! The Chantilly location is tucked away in a quiet office park with signage to help you find your way into the store. One of the things that makes River-Sea so unique is that it is a sustainable business. Another thing that is special is their customer service. When we entered, we were warmly greeted by Danielle, who was assisting another customer. Melissa, our chocolate “tour guide” was setting up our chocolate flight, but also greeted us. Although we were early, Melissa invited us to get started as soon as she was done setting up. Melissa began our chocolate tour by showing us real cacao beans and images of cocao farms. She explained the process of sustainable chocolate making “from bean to bar,” which we found quite fascinating, as we knew little about it. Then came the chocolate tasting! It was fun and delicious! With Melissa’s knowledgeable input, we were amazed to be able to discern the different and varied notes in each of the chocolates in our flight. After our tasting, we had ample time to shop for our favorite chocolate bars in the store, as well as drink delicious craft hot chocolate made to order! If chocolate bars are not your thing, River-Sea also sells wine and truffles made with their chocolate. Other tasting options are hot chocolate tasting and chocolate-wine pairing tastings. A trip to River-Sea is definitely a great way to experience chocolate!

David was an amazing guide into the fascinating world of chocolate. The chocolate we tasted was from all over the world and absolutely delicious. I would recommend this tour for anyone!

We are a group of Falls Church High School alumni and we are always looking for something fun to do together. I found River-Sea Chocolate Factory on Cool Destinations and we were all happy that I did! We attended the Chocolate and Wine Pairing (or rather "tasting") class and it was GREAT! We had fun. We learned a lot and we truly enjoyed our "teacher", Melissa. Of course we also enjoyed tasting the wines and fabulous chocolates! Thank you for the experience RIVER-SEA CHOCOLATE FACTORY! We will be back for more:)

We had such a wonderful time. Our tour guide was extremely informative, funny, and took the time to answer all of our questions. My family and I highly recommend this tour! We all agreed this was the best tour we have ever taken.

Watching my cute little wife’s body twirling around in the air was the best part. If you have a big group it would be a hit.

This activity is like ‘Pokémon Go’ meets ‘Escape Room!’ You can sign up for the activity through ‘ Cool Destinations’ or the ‘Hearo’ app that is free in the App Store. Once you pay & get the app, you will be texted a code to download the game on your iPhone that has Marvel style graphics, character profiles/clue info via audio, location pictures and driving links that easily connected to my car nav system through my Apply Car Play.All the paid people in your group can use the code to download the game on different phones so everyone in the group can access the game independently. Both people in my group downloaded the game, with one phone connected to the car Nav system and the other phone used to listen to the audio clues while we drove. One phone may have done both tasks through Apple Car Play, we just didn’t try it. They suggest head phones/ear buds but we didn’t use them bc we listened together with the volume up on the phone while driving. I DO however suggest bringing a notebook/pen to write down and keep up with info/clues given through the audio portions of the game.You will be guided to 11 different (safe) locations that included the parking lots of a medical center, restaurant, shopping centers, park and more. Most locations were in well known parts of Ashburn/Sterling with a variety of popular restaurants nearby the game locations to stop for food during the game. It was not necessary to ever get out of the car to answer the location questions that earn you points in the game. We did this at night with ease but day time might be better if you aren’t familiar with the area.Since it is self guided, once you pay/download the game, you can start at anytime and take as long as you want. However, I’m not sure if the code eventually times out. For me, everything was still accessible with the original code at least 24 hours after I purchased it.We were two adult friends doing this activity for a birthday celebration but it would be good for couples, groups of adults or teenagers, however, due to the occasional curse words and slightly violent content, I don’t recommend it for younger children. I think it could be done solo, as well, but it might take longer than the indicated time bc it would be difficult to drive and write down clues from the audio at the same time.If you are a mystery buff or interested in learning about popular areas in the Ashburn/Sterling, VA location, I would recommend you give this a try.

Went to a chocolate tasting with friends and it was a wonderful small tour and experience. I’ve been before and the chocolates change each time so it’s not always the same if you come back.
