Welcome to Mackinaw City

Mackinaw City is a lakeshore and marina resort village on the shores of the Straits of Mackinac that connect Lake Michigan with Lake Huron. The town sits on the northern headland of Michigan’s Lower Peninsula, also the southern anchorage of the 5-mile-long Mackinac Bridge that crosses to St. Ignace on the Upper Peninsula. A popular tourist area since the mid-19th century, the current city was platted in 1857 and the Old Mackinac Point Lighthouse began operating in 1889. The lighthouse, the 1715 French Fort Michilimackinac, historical reenactments, sightseeing cruises, lumberjack shows, and the bridge are top attractions along with sandy beaches, clear water, boating, fishing, and watersports.
