Lombok Travel Guides (Updated September 2026)

One of the BEST experiences we had in Lombok! This isn't the kind of cooking class where you stand around watching a chef do all the work. We were involved from the start and had a blast preparing everything. The garden was a highlight for me. Seeing tropical herbs and ingredients growing right there before using them in the kitchen made the experience completely different from a normal cooking class. The atmosphere was casual, fun and welcoming, but we also learned a lot. And then you get to eat the results — an enormous spread of delicious Indonesian and Lombok food. Come hungry. Seriously! If you want to experience something beyond beaches and sightseeing in Lombok, Anggrek Putih is absolutely worth adding to your trip.

We absolutely loved our evening at Anggrek Putih. The garden tour at the beginning was fascinating because we could actually see and smell many of the herbs, spices and plants that are used in Indonesian cooking. The cooking itself was very hands-on. We weren't simply watching someone prepare dinner — everyone was involved, learning different techniques and preparing a huge variety of dishes. The family running the class were warm, patient and happy to explain everything. By the time we sat down to eat, the table was full! Every dish had its own flavour and we couldn't believe how much we had managed to cook. We've done cooking classes in other countries, but this one felt particularly personal and genuine. A wonderful way to spend an evening in Lombok and something we'll remember when we're back home in Canada.

AMAZING EXPERIENCE! We ended up making some modifications to our tour due to a few mistakes on my end and they were so nice and accommodating towards us. Our tour guide and porters made the experience so enjoyable. They were constantly giving us water, hot ginger tea, and candy to keep us fueled for the intense hiking. The food they prepared for us was actually incredible and extremely unexpected- it was even prepared very beautifully. I can’t stop thinking about the soup they made us for dinner!! We even got to watch some of the World Cup on the tour guides phone! They were so caring, constantly checking in on us and asking if we needed anything. Overall, this company is 10/10 and I will recommend this to anyone who is interested in hiking Mt. Rinjani.

Enjoyable day seeing the temples & village, would recommend. Kana did a great job in actually explaining some history (most tours we’ve done have been mostly drivers instead of guides).

Amazing guides, we had a lot of fun and the views were amazing! They spoke very good English and explained us a lot about Lombok and Indonesian culture

We did the 2D/1N summit trek with Ris, an excellent guide! The hike was tough, but he kept us going with unlimited snacks! I would also like to thank our porters who helped set up the tents and prepared the delicious food! Would recommend this organisation.

It all worked out great. From the booking, hotel pickup (the driver was even much earlier, but waited, the car was super clean and the driver super nice) the check-in was very professional, the suitcases were marked directly and you didn't even have to worry about it. The waiting area clean, air conditioned, clean toilet, with drinks and snacks and travel tablets. You were escorted directly to the boat, the suitcases were stored below deck. On board everyone got free water, you could also buy other drinks and snacks. The boat has made a very secure impression. There were life jackets and spit bags for everyone. There was also a safety briefing. There was a movie on the drive.

The tour started off well, with Wayan turning up on time in a very clean and comfortable SUV. His English is excellent, both spoken and comprehension. This made him more than a driver. He suggested additional places we might visit, and his choice of establishments for our shopping stops was excellent. As a result, the shopping stops we did request were more like tours than being harassed by eager salespeople. Our dealings with Rio Bali Tours were equally pleasant - timely, polite and informative responses.

A great experience, thanks to Rudi who was our guide, very patient, a good listener, very funny and who transmits great energy (which is necessary for the climb!). What a fantastic day! We’d heard good things about Anggrek Putih and decided to give the cooking class a go while we were in Lombok. So glad we did. The whole experience was really relaxed and genuine. We started with a wander around their beautiful garden, checking out all the herbs, spices and veggies they actually use for the cooking. It was great seeing where everything comes from rather than just having ingredients put in front of you. Then it was aprons on and time to cook. This isn’t one of those classes where you sit around watching someone else do everything — you actually get stuck in and cook. We made a heap of different Indonesian and Lombok dishes, and the family explained everything in an easygoing way. Plenty of laughs along the way too. Once we'd finished, everyone sat down to enjoy the feast we'd made. There was so much food and it was absolutely delicious. Definitely turn up hungry! What we liked most was that it didn’t feel commercial or rushed. It felt more like spending a few hours cooking and having a yarn with a local family. Everyone was friendly, welcoming and genuinely happy to share their food and culture with us. If you're travelling around Lombok, put this one on your list. Great food, lovely people, beautiful surroundings and a really memorable experience. Would happily do it again. Cheers from Australia!

A memorable Lombok experienceWe really enjoyed our visit to Anggrek Putih Lombok. The cooking class was excellent — hands-on, enjoyable, and very informative. It was fascinating to learn about the local ingredients and traditional recipes.The garden tour was equally enjoyable and gave us a better understanding of the plants and ingredients used in everyday Lombok cooking. Everyone was warm and welcoming, and we felt very well looked after throughout the visit.A wonderful experience and definitely something we would recommend to other travellers visiting Lombok.

Beautiful hike to the crater rim with a nice guide and porters which prepared amazing food! The last part is a bit challenging but the views are worth it! Would totally recommend this walk since you have the best view over the mini vulcano at sunset!
