Lexington, in the heart of Kentucky blue grass country, is the Horse Capital of the World. Over 500 horse farms and equestrian event centers like the Kentucky Horse Park and the Red Mile and Keeneland race courses set Lexington apart from other destinations. Besides the fine horses, excellent bourbon from historic distilleries, and lovely scenery of the forested hills, the city offers many other attractions. The family home of Mary Todd Lincoln, wife of 16th U.S. President Abraham Lincoln sits on Main Street. Ashland, the immaculately restored estate of Henry Clay, Kentucky Senator and Secretary of State under 6th President John Quincy Adams, is also in downtown Lexington.
